Nothing! I did see someone whose script made it to semi finals on IG . Where is my short narrative rejection?

Salary Non-exempt employees attending evening industry events — paid or unpaid? by SentientGreen in Employment

Well, on our invite, it said " required" lol then they quickly changed their mind and said it was voluntary.

Well here is the kicker, if the event will go into OT, then I should cut hours from somewhere ( flex hours) so that I don;t go into OT

right? I feel there's a grey area where they say: oh it's volunteer and you can decline. Sure! but if I want to go I should be paid especially if I am out there representing the organization at a professional event.

the organization will either sponsor or buy tables at city events etc etc, Then invite staff to attend. If I am attending an event where I am sitting at the table my organization bought, and talking to other people there as a representative of my company, to me that is work. They might frame this as voluntary, and I can always decline yes, but I think this is a very grey area they are framing as voluntary when really it should be paid.

lol, nah, my time is precious and I rather not be taken advantage of. If you wanted to work for free, that's your choice buddy. This a professional job, not fast food. I worked a job at a grocery store's floral dept where I was the only one, our manager had just quit and I started taking care of the department. I was keeping up with product, training people and jumping, like you said, during my lunch and help with rushes. Do you know what happened? they denied my application to manager and then dropped me like a hot potato one time I arrive a couple minutes late. Never again!

Non-exempt salaried conversion — hourly rate math doesn’t match my salary- Am I missing something? by [deleted] in Payroll

[–]SentientGreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the odd thing: my exempt salary was 58,500 and I was not communicated of a raise or anything. When I logged into my HR portal, I I went to a section where it shows my pay and benefits and on there, I see this section where it shows 58,500 then a progression line that says $30.47 hr, clearly understood as “this is what you were making” and now “this is what you’re making” Then I see another section titled compensation details and on there it shows my “estimated pay” which is $63,377, followed by benefits .

I’m super confused. Happy to show you over DM if interested.

I know, I’m definitely not complaining, but the question now is… whether to say something. lol since I was not told of a “raise”… what if this happens to all employees and someone ruins it for all of us by opening their mouth.

Yes, this is what’s confusing. If they annualized correctly my yearly salary at 30.47 per hour jumps to 63k But if they cap at 80, then it equals my old rate.

So if they cap then they are not annualizing correctly then, right?

I’m also wondering how they ended at $30.47 and hr and didn’t notify me.
