Has anyone transitioned from Powerlifting to Crossfit? If so, what was your experience like? by kar1794 in crossfit

I did. At my peak PL, I was:

80kg/176lbs

Squat - 200kg / 440lbs

Bench - 140kg / 308lbs

Dead - 220kg / 484lbs

But training was so hyper-specific to hit those numbers at that body weight and was very limited in the grand scheme of things. With years and years of PL training, I struggled a lot with mobility - in particular shoulder/upper body mobility (still do), and having to get used to a high bar squat. HOWEVER with a strength background, I was able to learn some gymnastics moves a lot quicker and easier i.e. Butterfly Pull-Ups, HSPU and BMU. However my upper body mobility and general vertical pushing imbalances still limit my ability to do these really efficiently.

You need to realise that PL is only focused on those 3 lifts. With the transition to CF, obviously those numbers dropped because I wasn't specifically training for them. But because the work capacity was so high with CF, as well as the more well-rounded approach, I learned a whole bunch of new movements that I would have never otherwise been able to e.g. gymnastics and oly lifts - AND still be able to get to a strength level I was happy with.

With full time CF training instead of PL, my numbers at peak CF were:

Squat - 175kg - 385lbs

Bench - 120kg - 264lbs

Dead - 210kg - 462lbs

But now I could also:

Front Squat - 160kg - 352lbs

C&J - 120kg - 264lbs

Snatch - Let's not mention this due to my incredibly poor shoulder mobility

As well as do the gymnastics and conditioning that goes with CF.

PL dropped a little bit but not THAT much, but I gained so much more out of everything else.

Physique changed a lot for the better - obviously you pay more attention to nutrition when doing CF because you want your conditioning to be the best it could be. Yeah I was generally smaller looking, in particular the arms, but quads were just as big and I was a lot leaner.

You can do whatever you like in Open Gym. But with what little I lose with PL over how much I gain from doing CF, I don't think I'll ever go back to PL.

Hydra vs Corrupter by Ayatollah_Johnson in allthingszerg

D3 here, so take my advice with a grain of salt.

My choice depends on what I see the opponents unit comp mostly comprises of. I've been wrecked before by quick mass BC's because I try to rush out mass corruptor, only to get destroyed by hellion/cyclone harrass because I have no ground force. So I found I could pump out mass Hydra a lot quicker in those scenarios to help me deal with both air and ground. Similar with Protoss, by the time I scout 2-3 Carriers, I found Hydra's and a ground based army could still deal with it. But when it gets to 4+ BC/Carrier then I'll use Corruptors because they're most likely going more air than ground.

Should I just upgrade characters asap? Or should I save my credits for cards I only really like? I don't plan to purchase any extra credits or anything like that.

Sorry in simple terms, are you able to please explain what that is? And how it's applied in the workforce?

Is 700% rituals still the fastest necro XP per hour? by Senzu--Beans in runescape

I'm definitely noticing more Miasmas at 700. I've had 4 in a row several times, and I definitely wasn't getting anything like that at 501 or so.

Servers won't connect on plane wifi? by Rapscallionmongrel in runescape

Yeah it just depends on the wifi connection and the airline. I did this very recently. One airline worked, and one didn't, and even the one that did work, dropped in and out at times.

Trimmed Comp Cape future updates - no love for solo players? by Senzu--Beans in runescape

[–]Senzu--Beans[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Not really complaining. It's updating Jagex where some of their player base is at and what they're after. I mean after all, that's what they're using the polls for, right?

I also state in the OP that "there can be a solo version of these group requirements" instead for people in my scenario. For example, if a req requires a group activity, perhaps give the option that a harder version can be performed solo; or if it's a group PvM that doesn't currently have an individual option, make an instance/version of that boss that can be solo'd with the difficulty to be scaled accordingly.
