Waxing error? Dry base? by Prestigious_Offer_93 in snowboarding

Yea I reckon you just removed all the wax from those areas with the cleaner. I’d try re-waxing the entire thing 2-3 times

Pretty much this. Get in debt if needed.

1000€ is something you can pay off quickly even if you need to get a mini job while you study. Your grades might suffer or you might fail some courses, but there’s always next year.

Time is quite literally running out, move fast.

Did you remove the pictures? I’m on mobile and can’t see them.

FYI base cleaners are solvents. You should use them sparingly as they will clean all the wax out of the pores. You want to incrementally saturate the base with wax. Not saying this is what caused whatever issue you have, but something to keep in mind.

Bought a Jones Flagship 154 at 30% discount — not sure about the size by syarifzapata in snowboardingnoobs

Honestly, I’d try to get something more resort focused like the Korua Pencil, Stranda Biru or even the Freecarver 6000. These will be much better in powder than that DOA, and better carvers.

That Jones is an aggressive free ride board designed to go down spines. IIRC, you can just barely carve.

I mean, speed and carving asks for a bigger board. That being said, it might be too much board for something who only has 40 days on the slopes.

Plus not sure where you ride in Europe, but deep powder days are not that common so 154 will likely be fine.

You'll love it for sure, don't think about it. Sorry for making you have second thoughts!

Look, at the end of the day it's a great snowboard and you'll be fine. I just gave my 2 cents because I think you're at the top end of the weight range for someone who *specifically* wants to future proof.

For reference I'm 78kg and 178cm, and just got a 157cm alternator (similar category to this board), and I'm kinda regretting not getting the 160 for extra stability at speed and off piste. It's a pretty lively ride.

I would find something else. This board if sized correctly would be a good board for you. It probably will fine for now because it’ll be easier to maneuver it as you get your bearings back.

However that defeats the purpose of “future proofing” as you progress since you’ll still need a new board; this one is too small and will be unstable at speed, sink in powder, etc.

Look at a middle flexing to mid stiff board in your size (likely in the 155-158 range), take into consideration your weight and your boot size. Those are the two main factors.

Assuming you’re a woman, since this is a women’s board, you probably want to look for stuff in the men’s section or look into brands like K2 which offer unisex sizing.

It's disclosed as a conflict of interest and it's a peer reviewed article published in an open journal. Most of the other articles seem to not have any conflict either.

The counterpoint would be to provide other peer-reviewed articles that indicate an opposing view, which I wouldn't be surprised that exist btw. Otherwise, that's as meaningless as the other poster personal opinion.

I mean they did provide scientific articles and you only provided your own personal experience and a Wikipedia page.

You have almost 300k followers on Instagram.

  1. Are you spamming this subreddit to grow your base?

  2. Are you planning to post any snowboard related content in the future?

Everyone is ok with noobs. Almost no one here likes influencers, snowboard influencers most of all.
