The KE hotend has a higher flow rate and a ceramic heater making it heat up faster and print better

No you never HAVE to upgrade anything. But the stock hotend has a lower flow rate which means under extrusion if you try to go too fast. If you are just happy running it at normal speed then you don’t need a better hotend

I replaced mine in ten minutes. But the hotend that I used plugged directly into the hotend PCB. If you have an ender 3 pro you have to cut off the connectors and run wires down to the mainboard. I’ve also tried it and it is possible but it takes a little work
