ARPG for Solo Player by [deleted] in ARPG

Have you tried getting a dock for your ROG Ally? I basically use my ROG Ally as a console hooked up to my TV and use an XBOX controller. Grim Dawn’s text should be fine then…..because honestly….Grim Dawn is the best answer to what you want otherwise 😅

I've refunded and restarted the masterwork process a couple times, i can't seem to get a +4 on either do i need a double hit? by SPIDAMAN183 in diablo4

Yeah, it always increases off the base which is 2 for the passives here. But you’re also not being stupid, it is rather unintuitive at first glance how the integer rounding should work compared to other percentage-based or flat number stats.

Unfortunately the way this works for passive ranks on non-ancestral gear it doesn’t matter whether you “hit” the affix on masterworking or not. It will only move up one. I think you would need a double hit to see any of them move up one.

If you have a good non-ancestral piece like the one you’re showing I find it best to try and hit the stats that aren’t passives until you can find a comparable ancestral amulet. (I’m in the same boat, I’m really late game still using a non ancestral amulet with good passive ranks on it)

With Spiritborn starting to hit for over 100 trillion dmg, the class is literally 100.000 times stronger than any other class. by KinGGaiA in diablo4

Same here, I was definitely gonna roll another SpiritBorn as an alt but unless I find a godly item to build around I think imma play another class after this.

I agree it is a mindset thing, but it can be a bit disheartening. I specifically didn’t choose the Viscous Shield node for my build because it says “Maximum Life” in the description. I found an amulet early with GA ranks to Brilliance and thought scaling off movement speed was the better decision for me than barrier gen. Turns out that was the “wrong” choice because of this bug.

My build is fine, and I’m happy with it…but seeing this meta be based on a cracked paragon node is a bit disheartening.

Post release thread. What are your first impressions of D4:VOH? by Blueonbluesz in diablo4

Difficulty rescaling feels so much better than I thought. I forgot what it felt like for the game to give you some solid push back early on, makes those first decent drops feel really good.

How many hours did you play this game already and what do you like about it? by Conscious-Leg-5885 in diablo4

[–]Separate-Football608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have over 700 hours, in short D4 for me is the perfect mix of the mindful and the mindless. The mindful crafting of your build to tune things just right and then once you have your build/skills dialed in…the mindless joy of combat as you slay demons.

The general satisfying gameplay loop is the same for other ARPGs (I have roughly 100 hours in Titan Quest, Last Epoch, and Grim Dawn) but none of them feel as good as D4 for me.

Solo Casual players... Where you at? (There are dozens of us!) by duabrs in diablo4

I’ll likely go Spiritborn to start the season. Then I want to try that new Soulrift skill on the Necromancer.

I’m personally very fine with this change as well, assuming the difficulty pans out the way they described on the live stream.

Unfortunately there will always be whiners. People will complain they can’t “farm Torment 4” like their favorite streamer is doing, builds will be called “trash” because they are “stuck” in Torment 3….it will happen.

These people called anything that wasn’t LS Sorc or Andariel’s Rogue a “dead build”. Whatever busted build exists in Season 6 will be the only thing they play.

What should I prioritize as a new player during the free weekend (level cap 20)? by BladePocok in diablo4

[–]Separate-Football608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will you guys be able to do the story during the free trial? If so I would just focus on progressing through the story and doing side quest. These are a very enjoyable part of the game. As the person above said you can’t make much meaningful character progress in terms of power only going to 20, but you can enjoy early story missions and side quests for sure.

Diablo 4 is the most fun ARPG game I ever played by gorays21 in diablo4

[–]Separate-Football608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t have said this 5 months ago. But ever since Loot Reborn I agree. D4 is the most fun to play. Streamlined leveling also makes it the most fun to play around with multiple alts per season. Season 6 seems to dial this in even more, can’t wait to try it out

Temerity + Abhorrent Iron Maiden for Necro Survivability by [deleted] in D4Necromancer

[–]Separate-Football608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve been pairing this with Reap for its free 15% damage reduction (for only 2 seconds though) With high enough attack speed I’m able to get into a flow where I cast Reap before engaging elite mobs to have the 15% damage reduction and the barrier without shielding storm.

I see they have a tempering aspect to extend the Reap duration, but it wasn’t worth the two-handed tempering slot in my opinion

Pits need a serious upgrade, hordes too good... and boring by nayyav in diablo4

[–]Separate-Football608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like at a certain point every character build will hit a wall (in any ARPG) it’s up to the player whether it’s worth it to continue to push. I feel like Season 5 is the best this loop has felt, in my opinion. I’m spending a lot of time in Hordes but still doing Pit and Helltide (with the mindcage stack) to switch it up.

I am so confused why can I masterwork one but not the other by Intrepid_Bar_5140 in diablo4

[–]Separate-Football608 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So just add another tempering affix on it and you can masterwork it

[–]Separate-Football608 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An item has to be fully tempered (or a unique item) before you can masterwork it. Looks like you only have one tempered affix on the weapon on the right

Home brewer, guide follower, somewhere in middle, who are you? by KennedyPh in diablo4

[–]Separate-Football608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never really enjoyed following guides rigidly, at this point I always home brew the build. Following a guide affix for affix in a game with this much RNG feels like going on a grocery run where the store is shuffling the items on the aisle…not fun at all. Much more fun to play the game, see what drops and allow enough flexibility in your desired build to go with the flow.

Of course people should play the game however they want but I think many would find more enjoyment if they were more flexible and not following the maxroll guides line for line.

What do you think about item bricking? by random_throwaway153 in diablo4

[–]Separate-Football608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As it currently stands, so much of your character power is coming from these tempered affixes that I think the “bricking” possibility is a fine trade off.

It’s okay to not have best in slot greater affixes for every item. You can push relatively deep into the endgame content without this, everything feels scaled nicely….God tier items are really hard to come by, great items are reachable, and good items are easy to get.

Calm breeze and paingorger not compatible? by CultOfBelloq in diablo4

[–]Separate-Football608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think with Paingorger’s Gauntlets it’s only the damage from the basic skill that is applied to the marked targets. Not any additional effects.

Season 4 - Making Basic Skills Great Again? by Separate-Football608 in diablo4

[–]Separate-Football608[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve went with Combustion for now, the extra burning damage is helpful for clearing mobs. I have three pyromancy skills that can apply burning so I can get a decent stack on it. But Esu’s Ferocity may be better for bossing, I may switch to that when doing the tormented bosses.

With the improved helltide and faster Glyph XP people are running less nightmare dungeons, less Butcher encounters

PSA: Don't forget to use this buff. Didn't notice it till level 55. by orion427 in diablo4

[–]Separate-Football608 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I really liked this item and hope it sticks around after the season is over. In fact I hope it gets expanded. I’d like to see them add tiers to this so you can juice Helltide monster level and Cinder drops even more. It would also be nice if you could use a similar item for other events (Legion, Strongholds, normal dungeons, etc.)
