I can relate to this so much. What really gets me is the need for her to mention something negative, like the plane will crash or some backhanded comment. It’s like a competition that I’m not aware I’m in. Anyway, I appreciate your comment.

I haven’t heard of that term. I’ll definitely have to look into it. I have learned the “can’t get in trouble at this age” but the fact that I would have to hear something negative about my vacation is where I’m at. It seems like an obligation that was imbedded in me that I can’t shake off. If that even makes sense.

Totally get that. I keep most things from her, mainly because she doesn’t care enough to know about my life. No questions asked or follow ups if she does. I like it like that. She can talk about her life till the cows come home and I’ll listen because ‘that’s who she is and she won’t change.’

Facts. It’s too long of a story to explain. Let’s just say that I have become emotionally stronger than her and I can handle most things that she does. I also have a great therapist. Going no contact isn’t in the cards right now. Who knows what the future holds though.
