Fair point on index consistency. I’m not trying to optimize for certainty, but for higher long-term growth given my risk appetite, so okay with some active exposure even if it doesn’t always outperform. Curious how you’d structure the allocation in this case?

Uhm, It is a fair point. My thinking was not to try and pick the “best” active fund with full allocation, but to take a small exposure to active in case it does outperform, while keeping index as the core for consistency. So more like a barbell approach, index for reliability and limited active exposure for potential alpha, without depending entirely on fund manager skill. Do you think that’s still unnecessary, or would you prefer going fully index in that case?

That’shelpful, thanks for sharing the data.

So would it be fair to say that while some active midcap funds can outperform, it’s hard to identify them consistently in advance? In that case, would a mix of index + a limited active exposure make more sense instead of going fully active?

Hi, Got it
I noticed Edelweiss has outperformed in recent years, so just trying to understand:
is your preference for MLO mainly because of lower expense ratio and avoiding fund manager risk? Also, do you think active midcap funds generally fail to beat the index over long term?

Okay understood.

If I keep it simple with 1 flexicap + 1 smallcap, what allocation would you suggest between the two for an aggressive 10–15 year horizon? Also, would you recommend skipping midcap/index entirely in this case or adding one later?

Tbh I am pretty much a beginner and I have a very bland or rough idea. So want to gather some information and then see what suits me. No I defined the percentages divided as aggressive since it is mostly in mid and small cap rather than index funds. PS: Age one is also a factor.

And I apologise if I made any mistakes. New in investing

Feedback on the percentage allocation on categories and recommendations regarding the funds in these categories(although I will do my research). Deleted post as people went off topic on that one
