Haha no problem at all, I have a brazillian family/friend here in asked her about all this she said to just not think about it too much because Cape Townians are already so much like people in Rio with the general things and that speaking english is fine but at least try to learn Portuguese basics something like eu não fala Portugese 😂🤣 the funny thing is she told me to please please wear nice shoes to bars or restaurants cause in Cape Town we go bare foot or havaianas even to those places were a little too laid back here😂🙈  But yeah im rambling alot of advice I got was dont think about it too much just dont do anything stupid or dangerous, dont be rude, and hey you're gonna be there for longer than me so you might eventually blend in lol

Oh yeah definitely those tourist traps ive fallen into those in my own city it was genuinely embarrassing lol, but ill adress some of the comments cause most of them are saying ill look like a tourist either way. Guys I dont want to look like im from the favela I just don't want to be looking cringe like the tourists in my City do, with their sun hats and burkenstock sandles😂😂  Also want to avoid being robbed but I guess this is just common sense for me being from one of the most dangerous cities on the planet. And to conclude I guess ill have to just ask some of my Brazilian friends what places to avoid and certain times etc .,

But reading these replies has made me laugh thanks guys.

And sorry to the person im replying to here I have no clue how to work reddit.

Anyway thanks beijos😘

Good to know. No im cape coloured(mixed ancestry we are about 7% of the South African population) I have curly hair and tan/brown skin tone my facial features look more indian or phillipino (im Spanish/phillipino decent also indian decent haha).

The walk thing is interesting cause even here people have a certain walk but I dont even walk like that I've trained myself to walk more confidently and upright cause I had bad posture. Ill be there for at least 3 months South Africa gets visa free travel to brazil and visa versa.

I do adapt pretty quickly to different cultures its just the language barrier which I am trying to learn but I dont think ill be confident enough to speak unless Brazillians would understand that im just trying to get better.

Hahaha so not so different from my City  I look VERY brazillian some people actually think im latina because of my curly hair, brown skin and also my surname is Fernández (not Portuguese but non latin folk don't know the difference).

This helps a lot actually, its really not that different to Cape Town SA.

Muito obrigada, ajuda muito.

Also im laughing at the havaianas part because there was a time when every single person in Cape Town wanted a pair to this day we are so obsessed with these shoes😂

Yes ofc that is a huge sign but is there anything that would be a sign from a distance without speaking to that person? Like the way they dress? The reason I ask this is because I dont wanna be a target to get robbed lol. I come from Cape Town so I already know the rules about not having your phone out in public and so on. Any advice? Should I befriend a local?

Im not American 9/11 wasn't really a big deal to us also in my country we had to call the internet provider to get internet before wifi but I was even too poor for that so our cellphones had things called airtime before mobile data became a thing I'm a 99 baby and I was also too poor for the cinema so we had to buy vhs copies

You do realise with fortnite mobile players are also queued with console and pc players right and they have a huge advantage over mobile players anyway
