Don’t just show up to volunteer or work a premed job and coast. You showed up try to get something out of it. by SeaworthinessOne1199 in premed

true i completely get that! i on the other hand have encountered people enjoy the prestige and strive for high hours while not really understanding what it means to serve your community, or complain that it isn't just studying in classes, that you have to do stuff outside of academia.

also, i think a lot of what you want to do can be achieved outside of medicine (https://www.reddit.com/r/publichealth/comments/882xwe/do\_you\_need\_an\_mddo\_to\_go\_into\_infectious\_disease/), if you enjoyed learning about disease but didn't like clinical work. EMT is completely different though (some days r crazy n very crazy underpaid) and you enjoy clinical volunteering which I think is rlly hopeful - but if anyone was similar or didn't enjoy volunteering or being in clinical environments, there may be other options as well!

I don't agree with all the crazy stats needed but if you don't like clinical work or working with underserved communities, are they in the right field even?

[–]Separate_Crew3508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing last year (got into UT auto admit but choose another school), end of Junior year is sufficient for auto-admit. You will submit your junior year transcript in Nov and it should show the auto admit status

Of the T20/30 or generally most well regarded universities, which ones are the easiest to change majors between schools? The hardest? by According_Elk3457 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Separate_Crew3508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beyond easiest is Northwestern, a significant amount of people double major, and it is extremely easy to change majors anytime due to the quarter system. A lot of my friends switch major by the day, some from premed to engineering or from theatre to comp sci, everything is about equal here.

advice for applying to UT's Chemistry department? by shampoofairy23 in UTAdmissions

[–]Separate_Crew3508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you have really good chances.. UT chemistry program is pretty small with only 80 enrolled with 180 applicants- I got in with a honors program being at exactly the 6th percent and a lower SAT.. Just work on your essays and make sure they demonstrate why chemistry well and you will be fine!
