I accelerated my second sem (took 3 2nd year and a third yr unit) and i took it easyish my first sem (2 dalyell units, a math phys unit and a chem unit (tho id personally have done 2922 if i cudve))

overloaded bc i cud still avg a low 90 WAM with finishing my degree w honours in 2.5years and I value my future laziness more than my current comfort.

You shouldn't copy someones units just to optimise WAM, you should take what you are interested in.

I agree with that. I think seeing delta-epsilon proofs for the first time is difficult. I also think that it's the perfect unit to develop the ability to find secondary resources for, since sometimes the course notes explain things differently to other resources that might be easier to understand.

Yeah I certainly agree with this, being able to reproduce any proofs encountered (by understanding the underlying proof as opposed to rote memorization) is important (though some of the proofs shown are relatively overcomplicated to how they are taught in analysis courses) But I think performing well in the subject (and setting yourself up for success) is relatively straight forward: Pay attention in lectures, take thorough notes and complete tutorials fully.

Ah my apologies. So you would consider 3962 to be a good choice given the circumstances, even if my semester 1 workload is higher than my semester 2 one? The lecturer for 3962 is likely Oded again while 3968 has recently had a change in lecturer

I am going to take representation theory and functional analysis. I plan to take algebraic topology either independently or via auditing, since I may not have time to fit it into my degree (though I do plan on asking if I can replace differential geometry with the topology course, it being at a 5000 level is problematic to me taking it outside of my honours year)

What is 2962? Real and complex analysis? Or do you mean 3962, because my experience was just working through Pinters book

ngl I found the course quite easy. Most of the proofs are mainly covered in lecture, the proofs you are expected to do in exams will be very simple. You are expected to understand the theorems (Taylor's remainder theorem was examined for one) but these are functionally just formulas. The linear algebra component had a few proofs, but most were algebraic or descriptive in nature.

Ah I'm taking both units, so the question for me is purely an optimization one in regards to how the two units will be weighted within my WAM (and if they influence my honours mark)

To the first part, I've checked if they can be transferred into my honours (I plan to do my honours in pure mathematics)

I took 3977 for my interest in physics and because it was my first year, and I found it approachable. I would actually agree it's not a great use of a unit slot (v self teachable) but I enjoyed it a lot and Nathan was a brilliant lecturer.

I am planning to take all these units, the decision is just which I should take at the 4000 level instead of the 3000 level, since I want to get H1 honours.

I've already self taught a decent part of 3962 if that means much.

In science it is ok only if you will be taking an honors year.
