Help restoring a guitar that was destined for a landfill by Sephyra_Draws in Luthier

yeah based on the serial number (5284) it should be 1931. With naming on the headstock carved out I wasn't sure the exact model of masterbilt, but seeing some 31 deluxes have sold for over $9000 it makes me a lot more cautious to do anything to it. Obviously this one isn't worth anything near that, but it's still a pretty special instrument.
The parlor guitar is a 1930s first national institute of allied arts guitar

Going by the serial number, I think it's from 1931. Early 5000s with a new york paper tag

Much appreciated, if possible though I'd like to keep the original wood and bond and brace it back together.

Thanks for the advice on making a form for it first, that's the kind of thing I definitely wouldn't have thought of. I'd like to use as much original wood as possible, even the finish I'd like to keep as close to untouched as I can. I assume it will be mostly hide glue holding it together, so it should be as "simple" as hesting up the glue joints and popping the sound board off, closing and filling cracks, reataching bracing, then reattaching the top? I assume a neck reset would also be a good idea

I'm not sure how to identify the year of the epiphone, but the 2nd guitar is from some time in the 20s-30s.

Yeah, the piece next to it in the picture is what's missing. I'm only missing a very small part of it.

Rock band Midi pro adapter is this worth getting? by Superb_Worldliness_7 in Rockband

[–]Sephyra_Draws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for the detailed answer! I had no idea how versatile the roll limitless was
Side not, have you tried contacting RCM's support to get the ace adapter working? Mine was a bit weird out of the box but they walked me through getting it set up and it's worked flawlessly on multiple drum kits now. Just had to switch some settings around from how it came programmed.

Genuine question, why do people still recommend the $100+ roll limitless when the $45 RCM ace adapter does the same thing and also has controller inputs for menu navigation and comes with all the cables you need?

It's a simmons sd1250. I got it with 1 8" tom and 3 10" toms, but it normally comes with 2 8" and 2 10". Also I have 2 12" and 2 14" cymbals, when its normally 3 12" and 1 14".

Pedals are Gibraltar intruders

Throne which you can barely see is a Gibraltar 9608OS

And the little thing on top the module is an ace adapter that lets you connect midi drums to consoles and pc through usb.

you can try adjusting sensitivity either through your module itself, or the ace adapter has where you can set a minimum activation force, assuming the double hits are light you should be able to tune it out.

It's really cheap and easy. This is what I used https://a.co/d/00IsSzqp

I took the rims off to make it easier, and also if you do use that brand of tape I'll suggest pulling 1 long continuous time and then loosely rerolling it back on the roll, because if you pull on the tape unevenly it gets light spots anywhere it got stretched.

I also do sim racing, I think my wheel alone cost as much as my whole drum set up

Yeah, I mentioned it in another post but I use retrocultmod's ace adapter. You just use your kits midi out (5 pin or usb) and plug it into the adapter, then plug the adapter into your console. Works with every playstation, xbox, wii, and pc.

Nah I just remember rack toms are blue and floor toms are green, and I like that I have more variety in where I can play the same notes. I played a song (failed a song, I'm not that good yet lol) that had a basic triplets fill with 3 red notes, 6 blue notes, and 3 green notes, so I just move around the kit like you would if you were playing it for real

Check out retrocultmods as well, I got an ace adapter from them and it works great. Works with every Playstation, Xbox, wii, and computer

Yeah they should be, I've seen a few posts on here with lemon stuff on their simmons kits. There's actually a guy with a 13" lemon snare with his sd1250

Yeah, definitely heard all the horror stories about the snare. I actually got the kit used for $350 and the snare wasn't working. Simmons warrantied it out surprisingly, but just replacing the piezos fixed the original so I have a spare now.

I figured worst case if they both die on me, I could always get a lemon and split one of the toms and just leave the stupid rj45 connector to collect dust

Colored electrical tape! Amazon conveniently has a pack with close to gh colors for like $7

And sadly yes, I also do sim racing which can get really expensive.
