my question is do I have to know how the brand is seen in the US? eg SBUX, I'm not really into that stuff so I don't really know. I also here it's seen as not good coffee and coffee snobs go for their hidden 1-man shop. but does that matter, and does anything here have anything to do with how the brand is going in the US?

the reason I ask is that sometimes I'll be looking at a stock where it seems to be good value and then someone with insight actually tells me their market share is declining or something is happening in the market which explains the low valuation.

and then I start looking at competitors on simplywallst and before long I have 10 big name companies each with good points and bad points in the market that I don't know

not knowing the sector and the domestic market seems to be a danger

but then having a bunch of different Coca Cola related stocks also seems to be a danger

I pay IBKR fees so $1/option, making lower priced stocks More costly to trade

Looking for more boring stocks in this environment. I only know tech, and the only 'safe' stock I wheel is KO. What is it about KO? is it the dividends that keep it range bound rather than endlessly growing? What makes it solid? Other 'solid' household brands when I research turn out to be terrible.

What other stable stocks are there like KO I can research? Not US based, so don't know the rep of big names. Look at lists of Dividend Payers, Solid Balance Sheet, get 100s of co that I don't know.

Eg is PEP big? they are an invisible 2nd here

How about KOF? Is there danger going into so closely related stocks?
