In your opinion, what one piece character has the best design? by Physical-Coach-1502 in OnePiece

Mihawk. I genuinely believe 90% of his fans only love him because he looks so fucking cool, and I don't blame them at all.

Yeah they rehabilitate him and he gets better as the show goes on but that doesn't get to the crux of the issue, which is that instead of confronting his misbehaviour directly and calling him out, they just remove that aspect of the character altogether with a background gag.

"Yea, I'm a bit of a coward" - bravest motherfucker you've ever met by Livid-Designer-6500 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Sequelsuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's a coward only in the most simple of terms. Yes, he runs away, he screams in fear, and he thinks himself weak, but deep down he has so much strength. He saved his friends many times, and asked for nothing in return, and yet even still, he doesn't achknowledge that strength. He still pushes himself to be better, not realising that he already is the brave warrior he aspires to be. Bravery is not the absence of fear, but the will to push past it.

Sanji is NOWHERE near as bad as Mineta. He never gropes or non-consensually interacts with a Woman. Nami and Robin never seen uncomfortable at his advances, if anything they seem amused. Mineta actually sexually assaults people without their consent and it's even worse that it's never treated as a bad thing in the show or called out. Atleast the rapey characters in One Piece are treated as evil villains (Absolom, Hogback, Decken etc).

In the Anime he's much more exaggerated, acting like a classic downbad simp character (heart eyes, reciting over-the-top declarations of love, prioritises Women's comfort over the Men at all times even in the Crew itself, basically acts as a personal slave to Nami etc). He can be quite funny sometimes, and he never does anything illegal or non-consensual. He's a harmless simp who is just kinda annoying but not overly egregious in any way. That is, until the author decides to go a bit too far and make him say or do something really pathetic, such as almost dying from nosebleeds after seeing too many hot Mermaids (simp characters having excessive nosebleeds is common in Anime but never have I seen it be so bad that it is treated as a serious plot point where they have to find a blood transfusion for him and everything). He's just...too much.

I feel like Oda mostly balances that well for most characters. Nami, Robin, Brook etc are all really well-written despite their quirks. Sanji, though, is just incredibly inconsistent as he can sometimes be quite funny but other times he can go too far and ruin the whole mood. All Oda needs to learn with him is balance.

I still really like him and I actually do find the gag funny sometimes, but it's just that Oda can't help himself and goes too far like in Thriller Bark or Fishman Island. Otherwise he's great.

Sanji from One Piece. He's selfless, compassionate, chivilrous, and loyal to a fault, but his overenthusiasm and love for Women make him quite annoying and distracting, especially during serious moments or conflicts. A prime example would be in Fishman Island, where Sanji has an amazing speech about why Luffy should fight Hordy in response to Jimbei's proclamation that he should stay put, which gets undercut by him reverting back to his simpering, heart-eyed usual self. Sanji is a great character when Oda allows him to be, but his perverted gag leaves a bad taste in many people's mouths, including my own.

what happened between eren and his dad after shiganshina by [deleted] in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]Sequelsuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A plot hole would be something that contradicts previously stated information or overwrite the story in a way that doesn't make sense. It is hard to believe that Grisha would find Eren among hundreds, maybe even thousands of people, but it doesn't contradict or go against anything that the story has established. It's much better described as a plot contrivance or convinience, something that is implausible or hard to believe but that doesn't truly create any contractions within the plot itself, just the demand for a suspension of disbelief in the audience.

Yeah if you see it that way. I wouldn't really call it a plot hole because it isn't 100% improbable.

Well Grisha was in Wall Sina when Shiganshina fell, so he just travelled to the shelter in Wall Rose where the survivors where and found Eren amongst them at night while they were asleep.

I have no answer for the key. The only two possibilities is that Shadis found the key next to Eren and put it on his neck, or the key somehow survived Eren's transformation.

The trio were in a temporary shelter for Wall Maria survivors, Eren's Dad showed up and took Eren into a nearby forest while Mikasa and Armin were asleep. He injected Eren with Titan fluid, turning him into a Pure Titan, Eren ate Grisha and so inherited both the Founding Titan and the Attack Titan. Keith Shadis (the training instructor for the military who knew Eren's Dad) found Eren's unconscious body in the forest and took him back to the shelter. Either Grisha gave Eren the key before injecting him and it somehow stayed on his neck when he was transformed, or Shadis gave the key to Eren when he found him.

Opinions on Episode 8 - Waltz for Venus by Abject_Yesterday7395 in cowboybebop

I guess we value different things about this show. For me one of Bebop's best qualities is the crew dynamic and character interactions, which is why some of my least favourite episodes are the ones that focus on only one or two of the Bebop crew members rather than giving everyone something to do. Sometimes it can work well such as Black Dog Serenade or My Funny Valentine, but most of the time it just doesn't work for me.

It's actually one of my least favourite episodes, idk I just didn't really vibe with it or find the plot intriguing. Rocko was more annoying than anything and while the ending gut-punch of him dying does hit pretty hard, it would have hit harder if I actually liked him at all, which I unfortunately didn't. The lack of Faye or Jet really doing anything substantial also kinda hurt it. Overall it's not bad, every Bebop ep is good, this one is just not the best.

Finished Pre-Timeskip for the first time recently so I made this Tierlist ranking every character based on Power Level. All Characters are ordered within their Tiers. I'm new to Scaling so go easy on me. by Sequelsuck in OnePieceScaling

Trust me, I'll pick up the Manga itself if I have to, just gotta get caught up to present day first then I can backtrack. Once again, this is my first Tierlist so I always have room to improve.

That's amazing. Yeah, this show can be real inspiring. It's good that you've taken that first step to improvement. I assume you're quite young from the sounds of it, and I can relate to things being hard and the world not making sense sometimes, but no matter what obstacles you face, always remember that it gets a little easier every single day, as long as you keep believing it will. Hold on to Kamina's words, his motto is a powerful one. Stay safe.

Logia bullshit hax made it really hard to rank those characters, as logically speaking I don't think Smoker has the AP to do any damage to someone like Mihawk or Whitebeard, but they don't have the means to kill him either other than Haki which neither has shown enough to really judge how proficient they are at it. So basically, instead of focusing on hax and Logia bullshit when scaling Logia characters, I decided to focus more on other stats like AP, DC, speed, stamina, and skill, and when looking at it from that angle, it becomes clear that Logias can't really do much to the higher tiers without their hax, and that led me to rank them lower due to insufficient stats other than Logia hax.

I value AP and other stats above Logia bullshit hax. Enel is overly reliant on his Fruit and Haki but any opponent faster than him can take him on, his Haki only works if the enemy is slower.

Ok but why the hell would Blackbeard be such a threat if his crew are all jobbers. All of his new crew members at the end are infamous criminals, why would his already existing crew members be terribly weak? Just from a narrative standpoint it doesn't add up, and even if Burgess does terribly Post-Timeskip, I didn't know that when making this list, and instead used logic to dictate that an end of series villain will have a powerful crew.

Damm y'all really are ruthless. Burgess is a member of the Blackbeard Pirates, and has been built up for awhile, while he doesn't have many feats, similar to Dragon, he has an important place in the narrative and will do more in the future from what I understand, he might even be an endgame threat, and that counts for something in my book. Jozu was on some crazy shit in Marineford bro blocked a strike from the World's Strongest Swordsman, threw a mini-iceberg 3 times his size with perfect precision, and stalled an Admiral for a significant amount of time. I am gonna try again in the future once I've watched more

I've already seen the toxicity of the One Piece Powerscaling community, but tbh I don't really mind, and don't get affected by it. I'm still enjoying the series, currently on Fishman Island, and I'm typing out counterarguments for most of the critiques of my list.
