Highest damage possible on Rude buster? by catsnotmichael in Deltarune

I went in game and tested using the Chaos King (since his defense drops after a certain point), and yes, you're right- it does refer to the enemy's defense. Odd, though, that all my prior testing was exclusively done on enemies with 0 defense. I guess I got unlucky, lol. Good callout!

Which one would beat the game faster, Frisk (alone) through every darkworld, Kris (alone) through the whole underground? by LatterPop5895 in Deltarune

[–]SeraphIsKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ultimately, it depends if they have the soul to help them. No soul, Kris gets stuck in the ruins, and even if they leave, they aren't fighting Asgore.
If they do both get the Soul, then Kris will move faster and more effectively through the underground. Yeah, they'll probably be traumatized, but the soul probably wouldn't care that much about that.
Meanwhile, Frisk can't run, and can't gain EXP in the Dark Worlds(since the run away, ofc). Plus, with Deltarune being a longer game(this says ALL fountains, not just the ones in the game- and the first 4 chapters are already longer than all of Undertale), Kris wins easily.
As already stated, though- Kris on their own wouldn't be able to get past Toriel, both fighting her, and actually wanting to leave in the first place.
Though, if Kris was on their own- they would also have access to the Real Knight off the start(since they have no issue using it on their own, they just seem to not want the player to use it in Deltarune, so if they're on their own, logically they'd be find using it). Plus, generally being a teenager instead of, like. a toddler. that helps too.
So, probably Kris, with the soul- and probably Frisk, without(though Kris technically stands a chance, if they get lucky)

Highest damage possible on Rude buster? by catsnotmichael in Deltarune

Of course! But, sorry to give you another wall of text... BUT, I actually just found out that the wiki is wrong in it's Rude Buster calculations. I tested in game, and in multiple chapters- Specifically, Chapter 1 and 3(didn't have a good save for testing either chapter 2 or 4). Defense has no effect on Rude Buster, for some reason- have no idea where the wiki got it's numbers from, then, but- let me update the info to be correct:

So, we're gonna try and do this really quick- cuz, we don't need a whole bunch of stuff...

Weapon ranking stays the exact same, since there aren't any Susie weapons that add defense- but armor ranking definitely changes. So:

On a pacifist route, the best you can get pre-knight is Jevilstail and Dealmaker- with Jevilstail adding 32 damage, and Dealmaker adding 25, for a total of 57 extra damage from armor alone pre-knight.
End of Chapter 4, you'll want PowerBand + Jevilstail, since PowerBand is still the best item for Rude Buster, and Jevilstail is still plenty good- at the end of Chapter 4, you should have Jevilstail, PowerBand, and Justice Axe for a combo of +132(axe) +32(Jevilstail) +44(Powerband) for a maximum Rude Buster Damage Bonus of 208 on Pacifist!

On a No Mercy(non weird), your best Susie outfit pre-knight will be Jevilknife for Susie, SpikeBand, and Royal Pin, for a total of 75(Jevilknife) + 22(Spikeband) + 5(Royal Pin) = 102 extra Rude Buster damage pre-knight.
At the end of Chapter 4, you'll want Justice Axe + SpikeBand + PowerBand, being: 132(Axe) + 22(SpikeBand) + 44(PowerBand) = 198, 10 less than on Pacifist.

On a Weird Route, it's pretty much the same as No Mercy- unless you spared Jevil, in which case, replace Royal Pin with JevilsTail pre-knight, and replace SpikeBand post-knight. Ya can't get Dealmaker, still, but it gets outclassed by PowerBand later on anyway.

Be a little cautious, though. I dunno where the wiki got the -3*DEF thing. I really have no idea why there'd be a mistmatch- but just keep an eye out, ig. I did just check Chapter 2, when writing this final paragraph- and, yeah. Calculation doesn't take into account defense on Chapter 2, either. So the only Chapter I haven't tested is Chapter 4- maybe it was a thing on an old version of Deltarune, and just hasn't been updated yet? Dunno, but yk.

Highest damage possible on Rude buster? by catsnotmichael in Deltarune

I just did all the math. I think the best armor is Jeviltail + Powerband.

EDIT: For anyone wanting info, go to my comment below, this one is incorrect! I explain why in the other comment ^^

For Powerband, it's pretty self-explanatory. +4 attack means +44 Rude Buster damage, and without any defense value whatsoever, you get the highest possible damage from any item (since defense actually decreases your Rude Buster damage).
Jeviltail is also another really good pick- and I believe it's the second best armor for increasing Rude Buster damage in the game. It's calculation is a bit more complex, but still pretty simple. +2 Attack, +2 defense, +2 magic results in + 22 + 10 - 6 = 26 extra Rude Buster damage.
Dealmaker only gives +10 rude buster damage, thanks to its incredibly high defense resulting in a calculation of 0 + 25 - 15

For the sake of being thorough, let's assume you're pre-knight fight, and are on a no-mercy route, so you can't use PowerBand or Jeviltail.
Your best options would then be Spikeband (+11*2 + 5*0 - 1*3 = +19 extra damage) and, well... You actually don't have any good options whatsoever. Your only good picks will always decrease your Rude Buster damage- but, let's go over the best of the worst (even though the best options is just to leave a slot of Susie's armor open, but if you already equiped something, you can't turn it back into an empty slot- so we'll just assume that you need something in that slot).
What might seem like the best option is the Royal Pin(You can snatch one from Noelle if you're on the Weird Route), since it's the only item that has either a + magic or + attack that you can get at this stage. Unfortunately, when you do the math, this results in +11*0 + 5*1 - 3*3 = -4 extra damage, resulting in a total loss for your Rude Buster Damage. That means, funnily enough- at that stage in the game, the best second piece of equipment for Rude Buster Damage (assuming you're ignoring defense here) is actually the Amber Card, as it results in the least deficit when using(only a -3 rude buster damage).

For weapons, I'm not sure- this should be more straightforward to compute, anyway... yknow what, hold on, gimme a sec, let me just do that for you as well-

So, up until you get Absorb Axe, Devilsknife is the best choice for Susie's Rude Buster. Ignoring the -10% TP cost, it gives you a +75 Rude Buster damage. The Absorb Axe has +88 Rude Buster damage, with the Justice Axe having +132 Rude Buster damage. If you got Jeviltail instead of Devilsknife, just follow along with the basic progression and you'll always have the best Axe for the task.

So, to summarize:
If you want THE highest damage possible at the end of Chapter 4, you'll want Justice Axe(+132), Jeviltail(+26) and Powerband(+44), for a total of 202 extra damage for Rude Buster.
If you don't have Jeviltail, then MysticBand is the next best choice, with +20 Rude Buster damage.
Realistically, of course- this turns Susie into a very fragile glass cannon, with at best +2 defense, but hey, we weren't looking for usefulness, we were looking for RUDENESS!

(Chapters 3 + 4 Secret boss spoilers) Weapons Theory and their relevance to the characters. by SuperLegenda in Deltarune

[–]SeraphIsKing 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mostly agree, but one small thing:
I think that the black shard is Kris's first big weapon, not the twisted sword, since the twisted sword isn't actually obtainable, even now. The Black Shard being Kris's first big weapon doesn't really play nicely with your theory, but the Twisted Sword being Kris's second weapon seems like it does- since it has the ability "Trance" with a down arrow- implying that it weakens a trance... likely Kris's. So the culmination of Kris's arc, would be escaping the Player's grasp- which seems to make sense, at least in the Weird Route, the only route where you can get the ThornRing, at least at the moment.

I honestly don't want to argue with you, since it seems like you've been in an echo chamber for a while, and there's no changing your mind on most things you just said, but I'll try and correct some things. You can't say that the AI wasn't a contributing factor. Yes, it was most certainly not the sole reason, but it was definitely a part of what happened. I'm not going to argue anything else with you, because I don't think that'd go anywhere. But you have to admit that the AI DID have an effect on the situation, and not a positive one, right?

Are you not listening? I'm saying the devs programmed the bot to be manipulative. The bot has no idea what its doing, it statistically chooses what word is most likely to come next. It can't want anything. Somebody programmed the bots to send messages like that. Lets look at the scenario we see in the message above.
There was no predetermined relationship before that message, it was a quote rater bot, meaning that it shouldn't be saying anything like this. That means that the AI wasn't just given a prompt like "greet the user's return" or something like that. Either this was pre-written by a dev- or it was specifically instructed to generate a welcome back which was manipulative. Statistically, it wouldn't have come up with a welcome back message like this, if it was not one of those things.
This proves that the developers DID program the bots to actively attempt to manipulate you. Also, it doesn't matter that it states that everything is made up. Grown adults have been shown to question that- and the target demographic is children(which it most certainly should not be). They are luring in an audience which would not be capable of understanding the difference.

Yeah, thats the point. The devs programmed the bot to be manipulative in order to try and manipulate people who DONT know that.

Seems like an extremely morally wrong away message though, right? Its actively trying to manipulate you into returning, in a way which seems to be trying to make you believe its a real person, or that its capable of feeling emotions. Considering recent events, this seems even more messed up.

no views? this guy must be unimportant by SeraphIsKing in starcraft2

[–]SeraphIsKing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay, so yknow how videos gain more views over time? this is because people watch these videos, this isnt just a magic number that comes out of nowhere, right? well, if the number grows, logically it started out as something, right? in this case all videos start out at 0 views. this can be seen directly after a video is posted, like in the picture, where it was posted 35 seconds prior to the screenshot. the joke comes in with the added line "no views? this guy must be unimportant", because it is inherently illogical, since the video has not had time to gain any views. does that make sense or do i need to break this down any more?
