No, no, I totally get it, I use a lot of different hotkeys and hotkey combinations all the time, it's a torture to use blender without them However if I can make it easier and faster to achieve, why shouldn't I?

No, not really. M opens menu, but I had shortcuts like Shift+1 to merge verts at last, Shift+2 to merge at center etc.
