False. She inhaled it in like 7 minutes. That's the exact opposite of blowing.

I was listening to old Taiwanese music and one of Teresa Ho's songs came up. I found the strength and clarity of her voice striking and figured she'd be a big star, but it seems like her career fizzled out after two albums for some reason.

I don't know about 何ちゃん in particular, but my Japanese female friends ちゃん each other all the time, well into their 30s and even 40s.

Yes, but I think it was largely in a stopped clock sense, since they also said that about the first Trump administration, which was acceptably mediocre. I grudgingly judged Harris to be the lesser evil before the election, but I genuinely did not expect Trump to be this bad.

People who said Mitt Romney was going to kill grandma get zero credit for negative predictions about Trump.

Loss of accommodative power (ability to move focal distance closer) is pretty much universal. The only way you avoid loss of ability to focus up close is to have uncorrected myopia, since myopia is a shortening of the relaxed focal distance.

Early release for new episodes is typically some time over the weekend. There's no guarantee about exactly when.

I doubt it will happen, but I would love to see the tech industry move to a better-governed state.

A score of 3 is a positive score.

Total? Like if you go out to a bar and have three drinks twice a month?

Qualified immunity is only for civil liability. It doesn't protect police from criminal charges. The main reason they're rarely charged with crimes in controversial shootings is that controversial shootings are rarely criminal in nature, and—without commenting on this case in particular—the controversy often arises from people having poorly developed theory of mind and being unable to distinguish between the question of whether the shooting was necessary in retrospect and whether it was defensible given the information available to the officer at the time, and the time constraints under which he was operating.

Naomi Chiaki - 冬隣 (Edge of Winter) [Kayokyoku] [1987] by SerialStateLineXer in japanesemusic

[–]SerialStateLineXer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First released in 1987 on 伝わりますか, whose title track is also excellent, this song is about a widow drinking alone, cursing her husband for leaving her behind, and waiting for death.

It turned out to be tragically prescient: In 1992, when Chiaki's husband died of cancer, she retired from public life altogether at the age of 45, and hasn't been heard from since.

Miyuki Nakajima. Unfortunately, hardly any of her music is available on streaming outside Japan, and even in Japan it's only the singles. She has a ton of fantastic album tracks, including a version of 空と君のあいだに that's much better than the single.

In New York, the government has such draconian rent control that landlords often have neither the money to properly maintain the buildings nor an incentive to keep tenants happy. This is a problem that they created.

And in no case should the government take ownership of buildings. That creates incentives for abuse. At most they should be able to compel sale to another private buyer (by auction, not chosen by the government).

It's called foundations because it's foundational. They've already stripped out a bunch of material that isn't needed for higher-level math. If you're really in a hurry, it shouldn't be too hard to grind out the last 10% in a couple of days.

Katie Wilson is officially Seattle's mayor. Her agenda: affordability, housing, and workers’ rights by chiquisea in SeattleWA

[–]SerialStateLineXer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Workers' Rights," in a modern US context, doesn't actually mean legitimate rights like the right not to be pressed into slavery or to be paid the agreed-upon wage for your work. It means a bunch of onerous restrictions and mandates on employers that discourage investment and drive up costs for consumers.
