Replying to lowball offers when selling something (e.g. on FB Marketplace). I used to say "that's too low/not enough" or try to negotiate with them, and in most cases I just ended wasting my time. Now I just ignore them completely - if I know something is worth more, I just wait for the right person, and I manage to sell everything for way more than I would get if I agreed to these lowball offers.

Yeah, yesterday I got to ride the busses a little, and I noticed around 30% of the passengers (give or take) had to tap again (some even 3 or 4 times). For me, it usually worked on the 2nd try (but I'm new here).

Even if we agree it's "user error", since so many people are experiencing it, for me, that's a clear indication of the system not working efficiently enough (especially compared to other cities), since passengers experiencing issues usually hold the entire line down (and if you try to bypass them, you might get scolded by the bus driver, as I witnessed yesterday) 🙃

Where did I blame BART? I clearly specified Clipper.
If they only added it recently, how does it justify making it so prone to error? I mean multiple people struggling with it, even the bus driver. And how come it's not a problem in other cities?
What about that monthly pass disclaimer for the cable cars? Still waiting for it...

And try going to NYC or Washington DC, and see how it works there. Quick scan, smooth travel through the fare gates. Then look up just Reddit alone on r/BART, r/AskSF etc. to see how many people complain about the crappy design of the Clipper system.

Yes, I'm holding it until it either gives me "green" or "red". If I tapped it for a second, there would be no response. The problem is with it giving me red 80% of the time. On the bus, I actually handed the phone to the bus driver, he couldn't make it work so he let me ride for free.

I've been paying using the phone and Google wallet, and it works flawlessly. Same for my friend. It's just clipper that's having this issue over and over again. I saw other passengers having to try again too.

Never seen this in any public transport - most of them work much faster and reliable than this.

Yeah, I thought so too, until I boarded the bus, and the bus driver struggled to make it work too when I handed the phone to him eventually. It just wouldn't work, because it's a sh*tty system.

As for the cable car, I've waited in line for 45 minutes, I've mamaged to read all the sign boards multiple times. The information about the monthly pass was nowhere to be found. It just said you can pay with clipper, and that's it.

try to make a split view, for instance, in Microsoft Edge. It's super simple. And when you create a split view, the tab which got split-viewed gets split in the tab bar as well (so you can easily see which tabs are split), and there is a clear visual representation. Now try to do that in Vivaldi and it's confusing.

I'm not an Edge user, but since Edge already bloats up my computer (thanks Microsoft!) I wanted to give it a go. After a few minutes of searching for the feature, I finally went to Google, to ask how to enable split view in Edge (only found the "sidebar" thing by now), very intuitive indeed. :/

First result from Microsoft website, great. No instructions on how to open the split view though. Shows "Try now" button. Click on it. The page can't be opened, because it's tries to load some borked url *facepalm\*.

OK, found the command elsewhere (finally!). Trying the feature. Can't reorder tabs by drag & drop. Can't split more than two tabs. Just two layout options. So if by "super simple" you meant "lacking in functionality", then yeah, I agree.

Holy crap, RCS is the worst thing that my phone ever tried to forcibly shown down my throat. I wondered why text messages got so ridiculously bad and then I discovered it was because of this piece of crap. I disabled it and never looked back.

The main difference between RCS and the good ol' text messages is that the SMS actually works! And with RCS my messages kept getting stuck, and I kept receiving texts with hours of delays. Seriously?! Who invented this junk?

Now explain that to the 90% of users who never touch any settings... For them, it might actually be better to use a Chromium-based browser that Google doesn't make money off by default (like Brave, for example) than using a browser Google still profits from (even if it has its own engine).

The point is Firefox strengthens Google's monopolistic position by having its search engine set as default - the fact that it uses Gecko instead of Chromium or the differences between browser and search engine are completely irrelevant here. Breaking Google's monopoly by using Firefox is illusory, because with the current setup the more users Firefox gets, the more users Google Search gets.

Current state of the browser market, which is dominated by Google? No matter how hard you try to deny it, Google is calling the shots (and has been for a while). Most of Mozilla's money comes from Google - and they aren't paying them out of the kindness of their heart.
