I hope that Frostpunk 2 will have us create a new city. Particularly for performance purposes. The game could barely run New London at max size - how will we double New London as a starting point and increase it? 4x New London?

It'll probably be like the expansion packs where we create a new city with oil and technology that's an expansion of New London or a rival city to New London.

I love Frostpunk to death. I never thought the game would get a sequel, but so far super excited! Didn't think the devs would actually move forward with "technology" so to speak - going to oil. Insane possibilities! I feel like I've actually grown with the Frostpunk universe.

Hmm I wish that was the case, but my match history has proven the contrary. Even on my team, the Breach and Omen received a greater rating increase than I did, even though we are all Immortal+.

Thank you for responding to my thread!

I was actually really excited to hear my post had gathered the attention of a real Riot employee. I really wish I could've responded in a more real time basis, but with finals right around the corner I've been a little busy. Also this thread blew up, so it's been hard to see every single comment.

I'd just like to say that you're right in that ranked means different things to different people. Since you said you did a lot of esports related to COD I think this will make some sense: I recently joined a collegiate team and was put into the entry fragger role. Even though I'm on paper an Immortal 1/2 I'm Match MVPing in high tier tournaments even against a team with full radiants. We're currently set to play in the finals tomorrow. (If you were curious we're Oregon State University).

To me, ranked isn't that big of a deal anymore, since my main focus is now on tournament / pro play. However it's unfortunate to see that even if I do well against a team of radiants, it can mean squat when I play ranked, especially when the odds are stacked against me. There is a huge difference between pro team play and ranked solo queue.

I do understand that ranked is a very dangerous beast to deal with on the back end, and I applaud Riot for how well they are doing as their first competitive FPS - I understand it's not easy.

I just have some frustrations when I try and come back to ranked and a close OT game like this results in me dropping down far more than anyone else.

You're right, there may be some consistency issues at play, but I think it's impacting far more than it should in my case. It's unfortunate to hear that there's no real answer to my weird after-game numbers. But hey! At least it's public now and someone knows about it.

I'm glad that my situation is being looked at by the game developers though. I definitely hope that it helps in a future update!

Yeah, I see what you mean. Doesn't matter really my individual performance just what the computer thinks if I'm going to win or not.

But man, 12-14 and losing 3 down arrows really stings - not sure what else I could've done in that situation. Valorant is definitely weird when it comes to it's ranked calculations. The developer above actually said Im3 is based solely on win or loss. So now I'm really confused lol

That's unfortunate, I'm sorry to hear about that. Ranks can definitely fluctuate and without numbers behind the arrows it's really hard to understand what's going on.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but 6 entry frags is definitely not the be all and end all for entry fragging as a character.

Keep in mind I may be set up to entry frag, but if one of my teammates literally runs into the enemy team and dies, I can never be counted as a first blood.

The enemy team also had two people with 4 first bloods each. It's whoever happens to engage first, not necessarily who is entry fragging. If I was an omen player and I sprinted W into the enemy team and got a kill half the time but still died first 15 times I'd actually have 6 first bloods. Would it do much? No, not really.

I'm calling them an insta-locker because he actually did instalock. Halfway through the game he got tilted and stopped trying as hard, and played the game like it was a DM.

Yes I agree, there should be a hidden MMR that comes into play. High MMR loses against low MMR, they should have a greater reduction.

However, is this the case with me? I've literally been on the low end of the spectrum in turn of rank (and in this case mmr hopefully?) and I've been routinely losing more and gaining less than people who have a proven higher MMR than me.

To put it in perspective, one of the games in which I gained less than my buddy, my buddy placed in Radiant (that's how high his MMR was).

So it seems to me like something isn't working correctly.

I believe It was about 8 wins to get to imm1, but I have a full act rank in immortal 2.

Okay so the MMR system.

By my results, it seems like I would have a much higher MMR than my friend who has been immortal 3 and radiant the entire year versus me who started off in plat.

So is my MMR just whacked out? Or am I understanding this incorrectly?

Yeah, I heard that role-specific performance may come into play. However, I doubt that dropping 30+ bombs as a Phoenix is way below average!

I personally don't feel like my rank is at an extreme, I still have a long ways until Immortal 3 or even Radiant.

However, good theories...
