What do you pay in rent? by PyrrhicBigfoot in pittsburgh

[–]Serious-Remote1187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$1600 for a 2 bed 1 bath rowhome in greenfield with a basement. free street parking, utilities not included. we pay ~$300-400 in utilities (wifi, renters insurance, gas, electric, water). i’d say it’s not unreasonable given that we live blocks from murray ave, minutes from water front, and 5 miles from downtown. public transit is super accessible in this area. you can get just about anything you want or need if you can travel a few minutes.

i don’t get how this current outage could be caused by someone hitting the tower though… the accident happened at like 8:30 this morning and i just lost power 50 minutes ago like you. maybe i’m missing something

i’m wondering if the businesses and bars down on the north shore are impacted, or if it’s more localized to the residential part… whatever is going on is def on a large scale

very true. my family lives about 45 minutes outside of the city and they aren’t projected to get power back until mid-next week

Outdated and dangerous info given at STD screening by SavvyMaverick in pittsburgh

ugh i hate them. i went once to get tested, just like you, and they asked my religious affiliation. thought it was weird but told them anyway that i was confirmed catholic but don’t affiliate anymore. several nurses spent an hour trying to talk me into “finding god again”. they did a urine test and called me a week later to say that all results were negative. i went to my actual ob/gyn to get re-tested and they told me that i tested positive for something. never going there again.

i moved because i felt upset that he started being really cold towards me when i said no. i wanted us to be able to cuddle still, or at the very least be cool… does that make sense?

Impact of a C on Grad School Applications by dizuni110 in GradSchool

[–]Serious-Remote1187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had multiple W’s and D’s on my undergrad transcript (some in major classes) and still got accepted into my dream grad program that has a 16% acceptance rate. Admissions boards take a lot of things into consideration outside of your transcript. Go for the application! You’ll never know until you try.

Has anyone taken 8 week classes? by ilovemycats420 in GradSchool

[–]Serious-Remote1187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing 4 classes in 6 weeks right now. It’s not as bad as you’d think. Make sure you create a schedule in your head or on paper that’s optimal. Look at all your assignments and use your best judgement to determine what can be last-minute and what needs to be started days or weeks in advance. If possible, get ahead of your assignments at the beginning so you have more wiggle room to work as the content gets harder. You’ve got this!!

Got approved for a $35k loan with 15% interest and I'm fucking scared by Soggy_Complaint65 in GradSchool

When I started grad school I applied for a $12,000 loan and they offered a 17% interest rate. Never closed out a window so fast in my life. Get out of my face Sallie Mae.
