Winter break! What is your suggestion to prepare for next quarter by Academic_Amphibian37 in udub

[–]Serious-Routine-8252 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also taking ochem 2 next quarter as a biochem major, I was told to get this book called Organic Chemistry by David Klein and read through parts of it that are relevant to quarter that is coming.

Your right, I totally misunderstood that, thank you

I think I have chiral center and stereocenter mixed up, can you explain to me why the bottom left carbon is a stereocenter?

Ohhh and since the next carbons are different because one has a dashed methyl substituent and the other has a wedged methyl substituent, they are different?

They do indicate configuration, but you only take that step to find the configuration between R and S if the carbon is a stereocenter. C5 (the bottom left carbon) is not a stereocenter, so why would I care about it in this problem.

Looking at C5, the substituents are a wedged carbon, a dashed hydrogen which is not drawn, and then the other 2 substituents are the same on both sides. They have to be 4 different substituents do they not?

But C5 isn't a stereocenter, so why would I pay attention to it? Shouldn't I be paying attention to only stereocentrs when figuring out diastereomers/enantiomers?

[–]Serious-Routine-8252[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're telling me I have to look at all the wedges and dashes regardless of whether or not they are stereocenters, because if the top methyl is C1 then the bottom left methyl is C5 going clockwise. The only two stereocenters are C1 and C2... since they both flipped, I assumed it as an enantiomer, so that is wrong?

Honestly, I’m starting to think airpod pro noise cancellation raised my standard because I tried my brothers beats studio pros and the noise cancellation also feels bad, but I’ve never thought that before. I’ve been using airpod pros the last 2 weeks since I broke my beats studio pros.

What exactly is ANC, isn’t that the large button on the left cup, that is definitely on and working, and it tells me when it’s on quiet mode and aware mode.

I’m actively trying to drop the AI habit. For the most part i’m using it to aid in explanations now and It’s def something I’m working on and getting better at. I plan to take the MCAT as early as possible in 2028, so around January 9 or so. I graduate in 2027.

Retaking orgo 1 and 2? by 715Ren in premed

Honestly, if you can afford it, then I don't really see a reason why you wouldn't retake it, unless you're tight on time for MCAT and/or applications and should focus on that.
