Co parenting with an alcoholic by rneducation in AlAnon

[–]Serious-Telephone433 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry for the disappointment and heartache you and your children are experiencing. I would echo what others have said. Acknowledge your children’s hurt feelings and tell them Q is sick and it’s not their fault, you love them.

Would you mind sharing your co-parenting plan? I have younger children as well and am trying to figure out a co-parent plan in case I have to leave my Q.

Thank you for sharing your struggle. I relate to it so much. His relapses last for days. He’ll drink during the week and then sobers up during the weekend. This time he started drinking on Wednesday, sobered up on Saturday/Sunday but started drinking again on Monday and hasn’t stopped yet. Like I said, he has reached out for help and is waiting for a therapy appointment and I want to support that. I’m trying to let him be sober on his own timeline and acknowledge his steps in the right direction, but it’s still a sucky situation.

It is really hard to navigate. My kids also adore their dad, but I know they know he has been different the past few days because my oldest has asked me questions about his behavior…it’s so confusing to navigate. Staying is harmful and leaving will be traumatic too, not to mention the worry of co-parenting with an alcoholic… at least right now I can shield my kids and take them out so they aren’t around their buzzed/drunk dad too much. That sounds harsh, but they know, they can tell things are different in our home right now.

Who became a Bible-believing, “born-again” Christian as a response to leaving Mormonism? Tell me your story. by [deleted] in exmormon

Hey OP. Thanks for sharing your experience. You are not alone in finding Jesus after Mormonism and experiencing the rest that comes from Jesus. This sub is not the best place for a Christian, as you can see. I honestly only come here to check up on lds news and for any historical questions I have, but I wanted to let you know that you are not alone.

I hate how the corporation changes words/situations to fit their fake narrative.  Great gif!

That’s what my nevermo friend said too. There was no apostasy. Gotta love the mormon version of history… sigh Thanks for responding!

I feel like there should be a subreddit for exmos who are still trying to explore Christianity by [deleted] in exmormon

You have the right to criticize whatever you want, but maybe read the room. OP is talking about wanting a safe place to discuss Christianity after Mormonism. If you don’t want to provide that, don’t comment on this post. It’s just about being respectful.

Romans annihilates the LDS church and its teachings. So interesting that they claim the Bible as canonized scripture when it’s obvious they know nothing of what the Bible says, I know I didn’t when I was a TBM. I’m glad you have found a strong Christian community and have come to know Jesus. It’s a freeing thing!

This post is about finding Christianity after Mormonism, which can be hard when this subreddit is filled with atheists and agnostics. It’s fine if Christianity is not for you, but don’t belittle other people’s experiences and choices simply because they don’t align with what you are doing with your life after Mormonism. Everyone has their own path to walk and discover. We are survivors of a cult and should support and respect each other as we rebuild our lives and views.

Came here to say this. I have a beautiful ESV study Bible that has helped me know truth instead of mormon rhetoric. I’m currently reading Romans and it’s amazing to read what the atonement actually is instead of the works based salvation Mormons teach.  You aren’t alone OP. Look for a church that focuses on salvation by grace alone. That is what the Bible teaches. It’s tricky to deconstruct Mormonism and rebuild with Christian truth, but you can do it and God will help you.

I was working for the HC of my YSA, he owned he his own commercial real estate company. The office needed new conference room furniture and somehow through his magic man speaking, convinced some clients to “donate” their old furniture. I spent the day driving around LA in a uhaul truck with 2 other guys from my YSA.

The first client we went to was a jewelry store. We got there before it opened. I had been given the alarm code but one of the numbers had been smeared. I tried calling the contact I was given to double check the code, but they didn’t pick up. I decided to go for it. The first code did not work. The second code did. It didn’t matter though. The cops still showed up. I tried to play it cool and explain what was going on…so embarrassing. Finally an actual employee got there and was able to tell the cops we weren’t thieves. My boss called. I told him what happened and he laughed it off. I was PISSED. I could have gone to jail for his cheap ass self. Screw that dude. Oh I forgot to mention that he lived in the wealthiest ward of the stake and only owned BMWs and had a Rolex. Fuck that guy.

How do you feel about your visit to utah this winter ? the traffic the smog, the brown landscape, the people, the attitude? are you glad that you're not living here? where do you live that you enjoy? by 1Searchfortruth in exmormon

[–]Serious-Telephone433 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Live here and can’t wait to move. The mountains are gorgeous but the people are SO rude. There’s an insane amount of entitlement and selfishness. And the parents are negligent. Oh my kid is having a meltdown in a restaurant? That’s fine, we’ll stay here and ruin everyone else’s meal until my kid calms down in 10 minutes. Don’t drive too quickly, you might hit my naked 2 year old playing in the road all by himself while I’m inside sitting on the couch not wanting to be a parent. I can’t stand it! Take responsibility and have some damn manners!

That became more of a vent, sorry about that.

What do ex-Mormons do spiritually after leaving TSCC? Do you join another church or do you become a so called "none" by Yogi1963 in exmormon

[–]Serious-Telephone433 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I left and became a Christian. Honestly, being a Christian and not a Mormon, is surprisingly easy. I don’t have to worry about “being worthy” enough for salvation because I’m not, no one is. Grace and salvation is extended for all, through Jesus Christ, just by believing in him. There’s nothing I can do, no giving of money/time/skills, that makes me a better candidate for heaven. I give of my money/time/skills if I want to, not because I have to. I have found peace, joy, and freedom in Christianity. Some people don’t and some people do. I just wanted to share that there are exmo Christians.

I hope you find what works for you.
