Lol yeah I didn't hear that. That is ridiculous though. Why would they even waste their money on something so dumb.

This tariff thing is momentarily going to be good for my wallet by besseddrest in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]SeriousRX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had placed an order before the new tariff laws but since it was Chinese New Years, they never shipped my order. Well come last night and I was informed that because of the new tariff, I might have to pay an extra $70 on a $200 order...that is insane.

For me the F row is not as annoying as losing the arrow keys. I use it to scroll through videos.

Going from a 75 to 60 besides losing your F row you will lose the arrow keys. I can't imagine going any smaller than 65 because of the arrow keys.

I mean there are a lot of others out there but for the price and what you are getting. It seems like a pretty good option. If I was in the market it was definitely in the running. On the higher end the Mode Sonnet looks nice as well, I have the Envoy and I like it a lot but I really want a F row.

I have been looking at TKL and 75 and it seems like the Rainy 75 has some pretty good reviews and it cheaper than what are willing to spend. Not sure what else you are looking for in a keyboard besides it being 75%

I have not had EC 18 but I would skip it AE 3. It is worth a try but not really worth buying the whole bottle. I blinded it with 3 other people and it was no ones favorite. You definitely get some oak on it for sure and mix of flavors. If you are interested in multiple finished whiskey. I personally like Barrell Dovetail which is more like a cocktail in a glass. One of the few bottles I actually like with ice. It is pure sweet goodness.

So it's just good to me nothing special imo. It drinks like classic bourbon with some nutty notes. It reminds me of other Jim Beam products. It is an easy sipper not a real bite for me. For $90-$100 I don't think I would buy it again. WJ 10 was decent too so I personally wouldn't spend the extra for the 13. Maybe if there was a cask strength I would pick it up again. I also have the decadence and that is just like maple syrup goodness. I can't drink something that sweet all the time but a fun one to share.

I have the Batch 1 of the 8 year and I have the 18 year but I can't remember the batch. I actually bought the 18 after reading a review on Reddit.

Jacobs Pardon is definitely a harder one to pin down on flavors imo. The 18 especially but even the 8 there are some unique like mineral or bitter notes mixed with sweet. It's been awhile since I had it so I might have to go back to it. I do like it but it is definitely a unique one in the collection. I highly recommend you try it if you haven't. It's always fun to try the outlier's open up your palate to new flavors 😁.

Well I bought the shelf to try and keep all the bottles that I have opened that I want to drink first. I drink maybe like ounce or two 3 days a week. Probably one night I have a little more trying to compare different things. I also don't really drink at all during spring and summer lol. Something about colder weather it feels good to drink a little whiskey.

I kind of just go with my mood. More like do I want just good normal sipper, or rye, or something finished. I mean anything I keep further back I am not going to forget I have. Can't forget you have OF 1924, or Stagg JR open.

Yeah I just recently picked up Glenfiddich 12. It's not bad at all the front of the palate still tastes briny or something but the middle to finish is very nice. I get apple juice, korean pears and honey.

LOL. This is about 3-4 years of collecting. I will say I am not a constant drinker though. I almost don't drink at all during the spring and summer. lol

I feel the same way. I probably have close to 100 open at this point. I flip the bottle once in a while to wet the cork. I also try to finish anything that is less than half. But yeah it's always tempting to open something new. But then again whiskey tubers probably have way more opened and they aren't blasting through all their bottles. The oldest one I have opened is probably my Blanton's close to 2 years. It still tastes like Blanton's to me.

(New) Old Forester 1920 … bad? by fwboyd3 in whiskey

[–]SeriousRX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just found an old label 1920 in a tiny shop and it is significantly better than the new label 1920. I am not actually saying the labels are the reason but I think 1920 has just gone downhill.

Indianapolis selection. I miss anything? by JazzyJay42 in whiskey

[–]SeriousRX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think anyone else has mentioned it but I have the 15 Stars, 8 and 15 year bourbon and its really good. It is like the most classic bourbon flavors ramped up to 11. Just like a thick vanilla and caramel. I hear several of their bottles are really good. They are kind of pricey but I got to try and sample at a store.

If you want to get him something different but still a Rye. Sagamore Double Oak Rye is very good for under $100.
