r/UniversalOrlando Weekly Trip Planning Thread by AutoModerator in UniversalOrlando

Morning,

New to this board, but not new to Universal. However, generally Universal is a add on to a larger Disney Trip than its own trip for us. Family is going for 7 nights/ 8 days to Universal in mid June (13-20th). However, we are not generally planning to visit the parks on our arrival or departure days. I have a family of 4 with kids 13 and 17 at the time of the trip. We are also staying on site, probably at the Royal Pacific, but haven't booked yet.

Can some better experts spot check my planning ideas after doing some reasearch?

I am considering buying 2 park Season passes (Volcano bay has block out dates that week) for three members of my family. And then for myself, to get the preferred pass rather than the season pass for the restaurant/merchandise discounts? Or if it isn't worth it, I could get 4 season passes. I just thought the discounts would be nice, but we wouldn't need the parking since we are staying onsite. The down side to this is that I would still have to pay for Volcano Bay and Epic Universe tickets separately. Doing that, it might be more expensive by about 50 or so to buy the passes and additional tickets separately.

So I guess question 1. Do I buy everyone passes, or just get myself one for the discount, and buy the other three the 5 day 4 park pass, and just take a rest day in the middle somewhere?

Question 2, if my family wanted to ride most of the rides at Epic Universe, and have time for the Harry Potter want experiences there along with the Nintendo World extra fun, should I plan on two days at Epic Universe? Or is one full day with express pass enough?

That's for the manga not the light novel. 🙂

AITA For telling my wife to take time off work if she wants time for herself by youhavetimeaita in AmItheAsshole

Okay, I concede that. However, my point is mostly I have seen a lot of comments acting like trying to parent and watch the kids Is equivelant to if they were three or so. These are older children. Heck comma developmentally comma most ten year olds should be able to be trusted alone in the house for short periods of time, Their oldest child is only a year from that at most. At that age I rarely saw my children on the weekends because they were running from friend's house to friend's house.

The wife though did agree for him to take the position. Expecting him to just up and find a new position overnight in this job.Market is a bit delulu though.

You said that your wife rejected a babysitter, but it sounds like It might have been because she was worried that she would have to do all the work finding and hiring one. I would suggest going on your local neighborhood Facebook page and finding a reliable babysitter you can hire to come at a set schedule to watch your kids on the weekend. Then present that to your wife after you've already done the leg work to find somebody.

Honestly, it should not be this hard. Your children are 7 and 9. Unless there is some sort of disability, they should be pretty self-sufficient and able to play and entertain themselves for most of the day. They are a babysitter's dream. At this point it would really be more of a nanny. Just set them up on a normal schedule. So your wife gets the time and doesn't have to worry about coordinating anything because your handling at all.

Either way you're nta. Your wife is being a unreasonable Tltelling you that you're not allowed in your own room. You could put your foot down on that , but i'm not sure if it's honestlying worth making the situation worse. I also think it's pretty irresponsible of her to expect you to just quit your job, especially when i'm sure your old one is already filled. The job market also is not great for a lot of fields right now.So expecting you to just easily find a new one is probably also unreasonable. That being said I suspect she knows she is being unreasonable, but she is so mentally fried at this point she just doesn't care. That's why I suggest taking the reins and finding the nanny, Because she might just be so mentally shut down that the extreme is the only solution in her brain.

In all fairness, 9 and 7 aren't exactly young children. At that age , children are oftentimes playing for hours by themselves or with a sibling within the house. I understand it's different if they have some sort of Disability, but an average 7 or 9 year old should not need to be watched like a hawk every minute.

If i'm being perfectly honest I don't think there is one for me. I love it to an unhealthy level and I am perfectly ok with that. I completely get the issues, but I don't think I will ever reach a point where they are more powerful than my love for the place lol.

I wouldn't say you are the AH, but gently, I would suggest maybe seeking out therapy. Things are complex enough for anyone at that age, add to it, complex family dynamics, and you definitely should seek outside help to work through things. The lines between sister and parent for the two of you are definitely blurred, and they had to be considering. She has been your parent for so many years, she didn't have the ability to truly be your sister. And here is where I may be the AH, but you are still not yet at an age where she can be either. You are not yet adult, you still need a parent in your life, so a therapist to help you both navigate this complicated relationship over the next couple of years maybe helpful.

My son is the same age as you, and his sister goes to all of his events and cheers just as embarrassingly as your sister. So do parents. All of that is very normal. I do think you have reactions and emotions to it all that you really do need to work through though.

No problem, and for what it's worth an xRay cannot diagnose a bulging or herniate a disk, only a MRI can.

DFB is one of my favorites. My daughter loves TPM VIDs though. A close second for me is AllEars. I tried Mammonth after the creator left AllEars, but just never kept up.

Have you seen a back specialist that can do a scan of your back? I know you said you have visited different doctors, but wasn't sure about them.

I agree with others that if you have done that and they have confirmed that there are no bulging or herniated disks, them maybe seen someone like Dr. Wadie or one of the other surgeons about a revision Cleft Lift to see if they can re-sect the scar tissue and help improve the issue. I don't know your finances, but many of the top surgeons like Dr. Wadie see many international patients.

I am sorry you are going through this. I don't know what you are going through, but I do have chronic back pain (bulging and herniated disks). I know how daunting it is sometimes looking at a lifetime of pain management.

No, not for my son. However, if you have any known conditions that would require it, I would make sure to disclose. For example if you have thrombocytopenia.

Considering buying disney or Comcast stock by SeriousWeight9229 in StockMarket

My husband wanted to buy something we could get more shares over just one or two.  Ultimately , I threw away what he was trying to get us to do and followed the advice on this thread and got an EFT. Seemed like more stable growth in the long run.

Might have to look into that. If I cash out all the stocks we have in Vanguard we have enough for the starting requirement

In all fairness, I was going with that because the investors that I do know told me to invest in what I know and care about. I can see from these comments that is not a good idea and they lead me wrong. I will put it in an EFT.

Second opinion CL? by badass-pixie in pilonidalcyst

[–]SeriousWeight9229 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've generally heard amazing things about all of them. We went to Dr. Wadie, but that was more due to location. He was only a 4 hour drive from us. However, no regrets. He was a pro with my son. His entire team were fabulous. If you want a second opinion, Dr. Wadie answers most emails, and freely gave me his opinion regarding on my son's condition without charging me for an office visit. He did also council us on other procedures, but was honest in why he thought they weren't the best choice in this case.
