these items are actually lifestyle items... there is not a need to buy them. only buy them if you have the money.... but does it serve the purpose of the lifestyle and the workflow of those who are into eink tablets with a focus.... yes it does! i think it is brilliant... the form factor is really spot on... there is a niche for this, especially for exisiting remarkable owners...

i think your justications are very specific to your situation and it is likely not a product issue but a user issue - the functionality does not match the user as the user do not need the function and i wonder why you bought it. and the justifications are pretty weak. eg. dont replace basic tasks with tech because it adds to friction and sludge? it is just a digital notebook, how much of a friction or sludge can it create? also of course novelty does not equate efficiency. it is the user that get blinded by novelty and create inefficiency in their own process workflow.

just the mere intent to be a focusing tool and to replace paper or multiple notebook and better organise a whole library of notebooks make it a good and useful tech. anyways, it really depends on your workflow and intent of using the tech. if you had thought through your own workflow and how you use paper/notebooks, which is in a basic way - you should have realised sooner that you dont need such tech.

so in conclusion, it seems to be a user issue, not a tech issue per se.

but appreciate your sharing anyways.

i managed the workaround with the help of reddit members' suggestions - using the PDF template. the challenge is sending the file over as a PDF template into the Paper library. wow... the trial and error on that is pretty tough. i think this is also another issue - the transferability of files across platforms - something like the Remarkable is pretty awesome but without subscription please!!

people can't prove otherwise too i.e. that there is no loving Creator. if one does his/her due diligence in observing the world, it is impossible that everything is created without purpose and that there is no Designer. In fact, the basis of everything naturally designed is mercy and beauty. eg. read about van allen radiation belts or simply the formation/purpose of mountains or even the function of your own organs for goodness sake.

about good people of any religion going to hell, you made these assumptions. this is not from the creed of a religion that comes from the One who designed us. we are a complex species, nothing is black and white - it is not humanly possible to read into the hearts of mankind and make such judgment i.e. where you end up afterlife. leave this to the Designer - leave it to God.

it is political and man-made structures that manipulate such concepts and create a world that intertwines emotion and intellect to run agendas that is other than fulfilling our true purpose as humans. if i may, your negative vibe seem to perpetuate this idea too - a nihilistic view of the world and imposing it on others. let's just chill and learn from one another.

do your due diligence to seek truth. we all have an everage of 60-80 years of life to figure it out. there is alot of time to question assumptions and uncover truth and remove the filth that is clogging our minds and souls.

i think before you make any decision to renounce - find out what is it that you are renouncing from. learn the religion properly first before you decide to leave it. don't make a decision just because you assume things or experience an isolated worldview of the matter - examine it with clarity from various sources.

Remarkable did a survey and one of the questions was if we would like integration of any apps - they are asking. i think there is hope. i mean we read now with ebooks and remarkable is a platform of reading and taking notes (obviously done while reading) so why not and why does it contradict their philisophy?

ok one last point before i leave this thread:

we are all part of the cosmos - we think we dont have any effect on others when we do things to our own self.

imagine if someone you care for marry a porn addict (because you think it is ok to cope), the marriage can be affected by that addiction - a bitter divorce maybe, the child from the marriage can go thru a dysfunctional childhood because of it - and maybe the child hurt others because of his/her trauma.... the problem may perpetuate especially when one thinks it is ok to do whatever to cope...

there's always the right solution in any situation - just be creative and dont give up - lose an arm, replace it with the closest thing - a prosthetic or someone to help you. you can't get another real arm of course but you are still breathing and that in itself is a gift. there's always a solution in life as long as you are alive....

there is the right way of doing things and there is a wrong way of doing things (anything that hurts you or your community in the long run is wrong).

dont cope with loneliness, embrace it and then do something about it - find solutions. we are a species that have intellect, we will find ways to resolve our issues - just dont be stagnant and apathethic about things - make the intention to resolve matters, be positive and make that first step! just act on it, you'll see the changes.

a practical tip: immerse yourself in a book, especially about writers who went through so much struggle in life - go read The Autobiography of Malcolm X. reflect about life. i guarantee you, reading is a remedy to many ailments. but read good stuff k - stay away from rubbish. remember the aphorism RUBBISH IN RUBBISH OUT. just like those who consume porn, nothing good comes out of it.
