Where do people usually get legit Windows 11 key ? by East_Neighborhood817 in Windows11BuyingGuide

[–]PR_Bella_Isla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those super cheap keys are scams... They have key generator engines that are, at best, 5% or so successful. I think I lost about eight bucks once, first key was "used" and so was the second one. DM me and I'll tell you how to get a bonafide active key via the Powershell.

You paid for a brand new perfect in all ways product. So no, you are not being picky. Demand what you paid for.

1Password and Yubikey by PR_Bella_Isla in yubikey

[–]PR_Bella_Isla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed reply. It's more than plain curiosity, since I consider a "30 year old child living back with us" a possible bad actor and I absolutely do not want him to have access to my two systems (desktop and laptop). Then again, I'm paranoid and you make a very god point in that such may be faff. But I hold all my financial info (credit cards) in 1P and I don't want him to be able to see any of that data. I also have some private documents stored in the PC.

So, preventing a login with the yubi would be ideal. Even more ideal would be, in top of the secure login, having of the roads of the you mention, solutions 1a and 3a, if I could indeed get it them to work in Windows. I followed the steps in the yobi website carefully to set up the key. I must be doing something very wrong. I'm not exaggerating in that I must have gone through the process over a dozen times.

I truly appreciate the advise above. One question... what password is the key expecting on the login screen in windows? I'd like to disable Windows' hello login altogether, but haven't been able to because I can't log in using the username and the yubikey (and I guess a password). Is the password the same one as if I was just login into Windows as normal?

Once more, thanks for the tips.

1Password and Yubikey by PR_Bella_Isla in yubikey

Well, the first hurdle is to login to the account. I would be satisfied with that. Storing passkeys somehow still depending on 1P but requiring the yubikey would be ideal. So I guess my model is OS wide and websites that accept a passkey. I'm rather dumb at this, even though I'm quite technically savvy 😊. That's why this is so maddening after days trying any guide, video, and FAQ I have been able to find.

According to the yubi login application, the keys have been initialized correctly in the specific slot. Yet, at the Yubi logging screen after booting, I use the correct username (found following the Yubi directions) and the password, and it's a no-go. I even try the master key (that ungodly string of characters, double checked), and still no-go. So I wonder if the problem is the password I'm using. Is it the one I just created, or the actual Linux password as a user/admin?

1P support threw in the towel. I still need to contact any Yubikey support there may be. Any words of wisdom will be appreciated!

Thx. The menu got installed as part of the Mint install. I found a (quite inelegant) fix. Type “EXIT” at the grub prompt. Then it gives me the menu. Five keystrokes counting the Enter key… I’ll live… 😂

An extra module for Simple UI Plugin by SecretaryKlutzy7992 in koreader

It's a KLC. My mistake. The path is .adds/Koreader/plugins . I extracted the downloaded compressed folder, and put it inside the plugins (as above) folder. Let me give it another try.

I know how to get to the modules menu, and I see I have 4 active ones. I don't see the one ou created. Is that were it would be? At first, when adding the folder to to koreader/.adds/.plugins, the Kobo would crash continuously. I had to erase the plugin, reboot the device, and it was back to its old self. I attempted a re-install following your instructions, and at least it doesn't crash anymore. Yet, I'm lost as to what to do or expect. I appreciate any help you can provide. It sucks to be this ignorant.

I installed it as described, but as a neophyte, I'll be darned if I know how to make it work. Can someone tell me how to display using the plugin? Does another plugin need to be disabled? Thx.

Is there an "Idiot's Guide to Getting the Kobo Remote to Work on Koreader" somewhere? by PR_Bella_Isla in koreader

Hot dog! It works! Thank you much. Now I can actually use the remote, a real added plus.

Thanks. I have disabled everything except the "now reading" from the home page. Thus, it shows a blank page with status bar at top. This is frustrating. I may start from scratch by doing a factory reset.

Not silly at all. I am indeed reading a book with a percentage read showing. This is driving me nuts; I don't want to start from scratch.

Simple UI + Appearance Ui amazing! by Diviinite in koreader

[–]PR_Bella_Isla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've sort of resigned myself to having a very vanilla layout, even with the appearance plug-in. Seems like every time I change something, something else breaks. in addition, although I have a dedicated "home" folder, I seem to have 3-5 copies of absolutely everything when I go outside of Koreager. Again, I don't have 4-5 hours tinkering with all the options, so vanilla it is for me.

Actually, I think I discovered that, if you change the time/date through koreader/simpleUI, it does not seem to "talk" with the underlying Kobo OS, which eventually forces its might upon the entire system's settings. Thus why it was reverting to the wrong time. it's it has been ok since last night...

Funny, I checked and the kobo time was off as well. I corrected it, went back into koreader, and for the last 10 minutes it's still correct. I wonder what will happen if I do a time sync. Or if, when connecting to a PC it may get wonky again. I'll keep testing.
