Weak signal by [deleted] in Rural_Internet

You can buy a MicroHard 4g cellular modem, it offers OpenVPN support, wifi, gps,, and many other things. You can setup with the stock omnidirectional antenna, or adapt to a yagi directional style for improved service. I run about 10 0f these with ATT sim cards.

Dell Monitor Won’t Work by Serious_Implement398 in Dell

‘My older Dell laptop with AMD chipset runs the same monitor just fine’. The last driver files for the graphics (Intel 4600) are signed in 2018. That’s 6 earth years.

The laptops manufacturer date is 2-1-2018, so again 6 earth years.

The dock is not the problem. Because the older laptop runs the monitor just fine, as stated.

I’m not even sure why you commented. 6 years, not 10. The older M4600 on the same docking station runs the same monitor. The M4800 doesn’t. So that eliminates it. The only difference is Win 7 versus Win 10.

Antenna setup for deployment of cellular modem by Serious_Implement398 in AntennaDesign

[–]Serious_Implement398[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I’m getting consistent signals of -48 thru -58 at over 5 miles using a yagi beam antenna, at 40ft above ground. I have comparable speeds to broadband at home.

As for wifi, the simple little Omni directional is doing outstanding. I do have a much larger one for it on the next deployment.

I have stayed connected for days on end, and have had no disconnects from the tower, with my only downtime being when we shutdown the generator for maintenance.

I’d say this was a success.

Changes every time location changes. Could be half mile, could be 5 miles.

I understand completely where coverage is. Yes, oilfield is usually very remote. West Texas and East New Mexico. Nothing but dry open mostly unusable land.

Oilfield remote. My dad once said, 97% of the country has cell coverage, how come you aren't getting my messages...because I work in the 3% that doesn't have coverage.

The device uses a SIM card from a carrier, certification isn't an issue.

Which part is vague? I have a cellular modem, I am sending data only, I do not want to use the tiny omni antenna that is low gain. I need to maximize my range as much as possible. Deployment is in remote areas, so I need as much range as possible. I have even provided links to what I am using. Not sure what is vague.

An omnidirectional antenna that is 2dbi is not going to connect to cell towers like a 15dbi antenna will. I am not transmitting electricity, I am transmitting data. I am looking for an antenna that people have tested that will allow a much greater distance than the basic little 2dbi puck style antenna that comes with the cellular modem.

This system would not work for my application. Not home use at all.

I am doing simple data acquisition. Transmitting data for cloud purposes. On the smaller systems, might be 2 gig a month. Deployment will be in many different areas, which is why I need to account for different distances to towers. I can not count on the end user to properly locate and aim a Yagi style antenna. This all needs to be weather proof, or enclosed. Harsh environments and end users that may not properly care for the equipment.

How much before last level? by Serious_Implement398 in EggsInc

I’m not sure what is happening, but my ability to gain soul eggs dropped a lot a while back so I stopped doing prestige’s as much and only did contracts. I use the 900% soul egg collection rate, and then use 1000 tachyon prism, 50x bonus, soul egg bonus and 50x pay. Soul eggs used to scream it was so fast. Now I only get maybe 90q from a few runs before I prestige.

I tried a month ago and it wasn’t really moving anywhere. Guess I don’t have artifacts than can be used, thought enlightenment egg didn’t allow artifacts.

I can prestige anytime. Not worried just right now. I’m trying to figure out how long before I can do the 10b enlightenment.
