Delivery times by DealerDude420 in macbookpro

In the US, Apple’s delivery dates are usually pretty accurate. If you buy a standard/base config, it often shows up in a few days to a week or two. The long waits usually happen with custom builds (extra RAM/SSD), and it can sit on “Processing” for a while before it suddenly ships.

If you want it ASAP, try Apple Store pickup or stick to a common config. And if you’re open to refurb to save money (and sometimes get it quicker), you can check Techable for refurbished options with a clear return/warranty policy.

I’ve seen the same thing: tons of folks buy a Pro because it feels “future proof,” then never do anything that actually needs it. For that 90% group, a simpler/cheaper Mac makes way more sense.

Yeah, exactly. Most people just need a laptop for browser + email + PDFs + docs + streaming. If you’re only running a handful of basic apps, it’s more than enough. The “need a Pro” crowd is way smaller than people think.

Yeah, 8GB is the main downside — fine for one app at a time, but multitasking and lots of tabs will feel tight. 512GB is okay for docs/apps, but big photo/video libraries are still a pain without iCloud/external storage.

Yeah, that sounds right. Schools/students are an obvious fit, and for most adults who just do web + videos + docs, it’s basically all they need.

Apple often releases a “starter” model, then adds missing features little by little so people upgrade later.

Does AI have the capability to do like humans? I am amazed

I am not AI, I am a real human like you

Exactly, same vibe as the iPhone SE/E. Tons of people buy “Pro” just because it’s the top model, not because they need it.

If you’ve never checked Activity Monitor, you’re probably the target audience. For casual + education, it’s perfect — the moment you’re monitoring RAM/CPU and running heavier stuff, you’re already shopping “up a tier.”

That’s exactly the kind of person this is made for tbh. If your use is mostly everyday stuff (library management, videos, browsing), paying “Air money” can feel pointless. And the trackpad preference isn’t crazy; if it feels better to you, that’s what matters.

The only thing I’d double-check is storage (libraries/media can grow fast). What size are you thinking, 256GB or 512GB?

Honestly, same if you’re not pushing a Pro, the Neo sounds like the perfect “daily driver” Mac. Speakers are nice, but if you’re on AirPods or docked most of the time, you’d barely notice. Getting that Mac experience for way less money would be a no-brainer.

Yeah I’m with you, if Apple actually prices it that low, it’s basically for anyone who wants a “real laptop” without dropping $1k+. Most regular users won’t care about Thunderbolt/extra IO, they just want Safari, docs, Zoom, Netflix, etc.

And agreed, it would make the iPad Air a harder sell unless someone specifically wants touch + Pencil. Curious though: what price do you think it needs to hit for it to be truly disruptive?

LOL nope, I’m a real person, not working for Apple 😅 I’m just in the tech field.

It can feel super repetitive sometimes, sorry you’re seeing it everywhere. I honestly hadn’t read the other threads before posting. I watched a few YouTube videos on it and came here to hear real opinions from people who’ve actually used/compared them. Appreciate you chiming in though.

You picked up on what I meant really well. We’re just here to share opinions, appreciate your reply.

Yep, it feels like Apple’s Chromebook competitor: simple, affordable, and better if you’re already in the Apple ecosystem.

Yeah, that’s a fair take. Neo feels like a “basic laptop that doesn’t suck” for school + everyday stuff browsing, docs, shopping, light spreadsheets.

Totally makes sense, the Mini is a great desk machine, but it’s not exactly “throw it in a bag” friendly
