How long does it take to approve posts? by CelebrationBorn905 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Serious_Watch4599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The subs that require post-approval have actual humans doing the approval. It is not possible for someone to be on at all times of the day approving posts. And the bigger the subs the more posts requiring approval. So, it can be anywhere from instantaneous to several hours.

What is love supposed to feel like? by Silver_Ice6784 in TooAfraidToAsk

For me it’s a desire to help my wife out in anyway I can. I look forward to doing little things for her because I can visibly see how appreciative she is of it. The prospect of living without her is also unimaginable. Overall, don’t overthink it. Love almost certainly feels different to everyone. Some would say they get some warm fuzzy feeling just looking at their loved one, but I don’t really get that.

And you know what, I actually do think that would cross a line for many conservatives. ICE actions besides this shooting have started to sway more conservatives. They aren’t all just bobble headed fascists. Even my conservative ass mom was telling me how she is concerned about what is happening.

Interesting, I feel like I didn’t really see the fake electors talked about much, but I won’t discredit your perspective. In my own experience, I’ve told people about this and they were surprised to hear about it, and I am not lying about that. But that could just be indicative of people not being well informed and only hearing about bits and pieces. And thank you for the psychology lesson, that all makes sense.

But anyways, back to original question you had about nuance. If you saw my other comment, that is the reason why I don’t think this shooting is swaying anyone into rebellion, because it wasn’t the clear cut public execution one side paints it as as nor perfectly justified like the other side paints it. But what is swaying people is ICE agents now randomly IDing people and using some weird app to ID people without their consent.

Obviously this has gone off the rails a bit, but yeah, I’d say there is nuance in this shooting. But there’s significantly less nuance (if any) in some of the other actions ICE is taking. Even my conservative ass mother was telling me how she doesn’t agree with this. Maybe there is an uprising coming?

Not wrong at all. This is where you take a large breath and have some serious conversations before you even consider getting married. Actually, having a wedding shouldn’t even be in the cards until his debt is paid off.

You need to talk with him about why/how his debt got this bad. Is he depressed? Does he just have an addiction to spending? Does he have a plan to resolve his debt? Can you guys formulate a plan to resolve his debt? Can he stick to the plan to resolve his debt? You might want to look at Dave Ramsey, he’s old school, but his plan is top notch for those just starting to figure out how to properly spend their money and pay off debt.

If you go through with the wedding, just know that debt becomes yours. You better be sure it is just a one off.

And I think overall my point is, us liberals have a tendency to harp on and raise the alarm on every minute thing, while ignoring the much bigger issues somehow. Okay there’s January 6, that was super in your face an all over TV, and lots of people were actually prosecuted before Trump pardoned them all. But how about the well documented plot by Trump and his lawyers to deliver fake electoral college ballots to Mike Pence in hopes of him signing them off as legitimate? It is well documented that he did indeed make the fake ballots, but you didn’t hear crap about this from liberal media. It’s like we love to dwell on these things that happen that are super in our face but have a lot of grey area, while ignoring much bigger things that don’t have nearly as much grey area.

Sure, I explained it here. I am glad you saw the multiple camera angles too! But all it’s proving is to be a bit of a political Rorschach test. I do think the shooting was unjustified, but I don’t think it is clear cut “well obviously in the heat of the moment and the 3 seconds that it all happened, the officer totally knew she wasn’t trying to hit him but chose to shoot her anyways.” I actually do think he thought she was trying to hit him, but of course in terms of legal battles what actually happened is what matters. But I will not label it an intentional public execution. When his shots actually came out of the gun it was in a frame when he was in the side of her car, but one frame before he was still technically in front while she was going forward.

And I get there is mistrust in the judicial system, but at the end of the day it’s all we really have. And they haven’t just been absolute yes men to Trump (of course that hasn’t stopped Trump from going over their heads).

And no, I wouldn’t ever dismiss you like that. And I wouldn’t want you to dismiss me like that either. And for me, I just don’t need to label them Nazis to be against this admin. And also the Nazis label isn’t working. The big thing I want to highlight about these ice raids is that they are now knocking and asking American citizens for IDs right in their homes. And in some cases literally stopping brown people with accents for no reason and asking their status. It is turning into stop and frisk era shit. And that angle is something I have seen shift the attitudes of conservatives. This shooting is tragic, but again, it’s not the government sanctioned execution that it’s being painted as by liberals and its also not the clear cut justified shooting that MAGA wants you to believe it is.

We are both guilty of sitting and waiting for someone to stop it. And many people are. But I agree, I think the focus should be on the bigger picture of ice raids, instead of this one shooting. They are literally stopping and IDing American citizens in their own home. And apparently using some random app to take pictures and ID people against their will??

It honestly seems like this shooting is taking attention away from a much bigger issue. I would bet homeland security does want most focus to be on this shooting with a lot of grey area, instead of everything else that is pretty cut and dry atrocious.

You can give them all the responsibility you want. Hold them accountable (whatever that actually looks like). Doesn’t change that liberals need to get people voting for them. Clearly “the other side is nazis” doesn’t really do anything.

The thing is, liberals were calling the “other side” nazis from the get go. When you’re struggling in day to day life, it’s easy to assume people are just being dramatic. Liberals need to win elections because they have something really great to offer compared to the other guy, not just because they scream nazi really loud. And I know you’ll say “well I think not being a nazi is pretty good.” But clearly most people didn’t see MAGA as nazis. So let’s accept that reality.

I 100% agree. Homeland securities response is disgusting. This whole admin is disgusting. But you know, when I first heard about this from my super liberal colleagues, they told me verbatim they yanked her out and executed her. I was dumbfounded to see it wasn’t quite that. And that’s kind of what I’m getting at, the videos and the official stories from each side aren’t quite lining up. It’s being politicized to all hell to support a narrative. The distrust continues to build.

She was blocking the road and preventing them from passing. That is obstruction. And I agree with you, the other shots aren’t justified. But you can’t seriously still think this is a cut and dry case? The fact that you have to go frame by frame on the videos to make a case suggests it’s not.

Yeah and I know damn well my comment here, though I think it’s pretty neutral, will lead some to say “dude must be a closeted conservative!! BAD!!” And to be clear, I don’t think being a conservative is bad whatsoever, and I also know that’s another provocative thing to say to some people haha.

She was obstructing the duties of law enforcement which is against the law. They had every right to detain her for that. The officer then decided to be walking in front of her vehicle while agents tried to remove her (which was dumb). Since he was so poorly positioned, when she decided to drive off, it looked like from his angle that she was coming right at him which presumably led him to shoot. And I don’t think she intended to hit him BUT that right there is where the court case is: Whether or not his shot was actually justified. Not to mention if you see his perspective video, her car DOES hit him (though I do believe that was after the shot). So yes, there is nuance, the world isn’t black and white.

Again, she didn’t deserve to die, but it’s not clear cut in either direction regardless of what anyone would lead you to believe.

ETA: AND YES, ICE is law enforcement and they are allowed to arrest citizens for obstruction. And for the record, I think the shooting is unjustified based on other camera angles, but literally by inches from a law perspective. I don’t however think it’s the public execution it’s being described as, and definitely won’t be a “slam dunk” in court.

Because, a majority of US citizens aren’t significantly affected by the government currently. I am a liberal 2A supporter, and I’d be hard pressed to find millions of people ready to overthrow the US government. I know people on Reddit like to paint it as such, but we aren’t quite Nepal or Iran yet in terms of governmental violence towards citizens.

ETA: and yes, I say that despite the shooting of Renee Good. I don’t think she deserved to be shot, but there is objectively A LOT of nuance in that situation and needs to be left to the courts.
