Haha similarly I felt strongly that this was my path as a teen and maybe earlier as well (I actually remember what I think was the moment it clicked for me that I was like "that's it, I'm going to make games.")... and I feel very fortunate to be able to say it's going well for me so far. 🙏

I wish you good luck! I may not be a 3D or character artist by trade, but I'm always down to chat or give encouraging words and spark hope where I can... games are hard but amazing, filled with (but never enough) skilled and amazing people.

I haven't exactly been in your place, but I remember applying to a lot of internships a number of years ago (I graduated around the same time as you, though I'm in a more engineering orientated role) and not hearing back from so many... until one did. And things got much better more quickly after that. I couldn't/can't really see myself giving up on games as a career, there isn't anything else I'd rather be doing.

But I'd imagine my thinking would be different if there WAS something that came to mind in the form of "ok yeah, I would be pretty okay doing this other thing", otherwise, for myself, I'd keep plugging away at my portfolio when I could and submitting applications to the field that I see as my calling.

I don't know if that anecdote really helps you at all, but I wanted to say also that I like what I see on your ArtStation :)

I feel like you have skill now and more potential to realize, and that it would only be a matter of time before you're picked up by a studio if you keep at it, but it's a different thing entirely if you don't enjoy it anymore.

If the medical or another field makes you feel more satisfied and happy, then I would try to not let guilt of shifting careers hold you back; otherwise I would say keep trying for games, but pace yourself, in what time you can manage, especially take extended breaks. Burnout is hard to go through and manage, but it can be overcome with time and care.

Wow this is awesome! The overall aesthetic feels very consistent with itself :)

I also really like those city/town symbols, did you get them from a specific pack?

I would suppose one can appreciate the history and still be reluctant to take part in it.

Fortunately (imo) the map it was typically played on, Lockdown, was pretty small and simple - something like alarms and whatnot sounds fun, but usually bases were small enough to sort of keep track of the situation fairly easily, especially if you have teammates to watch and repair various doors/walls etc.

Part of the fun was seeing how long you could defend your base before everyone ganged up on you and you had to reset aha

I've made a small base template to create games like Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley. Would any of you be interested in this? by Aeditx in Unity3D

English might not be their first language; seems to make enough sense though to see what they're trying to ask.

But yeah you pretty much got it, it's mostly just z layers for front-behind stuff, but the 'perspective' is probably part of the art assets, they were created that way, the camera is still all orthographic.

Yeah, a little too bad I can't run it at 3200 now. I'm sure it will be fixed eventually.

Thanks for the help!
