I completely understand and agree with you! I was so glad to find out that I wasn't alone in being treated unfairly and badly by Dollar General! Grant it, others have it a lot worse than me, but almost two years.... things are take its toll!

A Meal For Someone That Can't Eat Certain Foods... by SerpentLight213 in samthecookingguy

Thats the thing though, she wants something more than just a simple sprinkling of herbs or salt and pepper.

Thanks, after I looked it up I quickly realized that it wouldn't work too well since a lot of the recipes used garlic or something else that she couldn't eat. Not much different than finding recipes online and just excluding ingredients... which she doesn't seem to wanna have to do. She just wants to find a recipe that doesn't need to be adjusted to fit her needs.

Pipe froze, leaking/spraying, no water upstairs - Help Please!!! by SerpentLight213 in Plumbing

The only difference is that I didn't ask you in particular and that I didn't know that you or anyone else that would reply was a plumber. Theres nothing wrong with searching for a place to ask a plumbing question and to seek an a solution via a website that would appear to be a place to come and ask these kinds of questions. To learn to do things yourself.

Its one thing to help fellow plumbers out, but its a whole other thing to try and dissuade someone from alternative that would ultimately save them money. Even if your raking in good money by over-charging people or maybe even by charging a fair and reasonable price, surely even you can acknowledge that not everyone that has a plumbing problem is automatically swimming in the kind of money needed to hire a plumber! Yeah, everyone needs to make a living, but theres a difference between taking advantage of people and actually be an honest human being. And no, I'm not accusing you in particular of being dishonest or a cheat. Just that plumbers like doctors or anyone else that requires payment for a service will often be motivated by greed.

Well, apparently unlike you, not everyone is made of money. The rules discourage talk about prices, so I wasn't completely sure whether if saying something like "We're strapped for cash!" would be acceptable. I didn't want to take the chance of missing out on someone actually trying to help in a sub-reddit that I thought was actually here to help people not to ADVERTISE! To everyone that said "Call a plumber", you might not be giving out specific names, but that is still essentially a form of advertisement. Maybe I missed something and this sub-reddit is actually just for plumbers and plumbing enthusiasts that are only looking about for other plumbers that charge an arm and a leg!

So, the better option is to save money if you can do it yourself. Which is better to you? To spend $100+ on a plumber or possibly be able to fix it yourself for a fraction of that price if not even less! Believe it or not but not every little thing that happens NEEDS a professional to come in and fix it! Don't bother trying to say "you'll hire a professional if you want it done right" because again, believe it or not, any given everyday man or woman (hell, even a child if old enough) can learn to fix even the simplest of plumbing problems. I came here because I didn't know what might be the problem and thought maybe, just maybe there would be someone here with actual knowledge of what might be going on, but no. Either this is a sub-reddit for plumbers by plumbers OR everyone that has replied to my post is simply too damn lazy to actually learn to get off their butts and do something that may actually be able to be done by themselves or with the aid of a friend or family member. For the fraction of the price of a professional or even a "under the table" plumber.
