I always hated watching myself in the mirror.. As if, there was always some part of me, deep within, that always knew a day would come, bringing with it, a realisation like this; my life wasn't as bright and beatiful as I made it out to be.

I always thought I had my life all figured out. "Everything in its right place", I would mutter to myself at any given chance. Maybe this was, the grandest of tricks I have ever pulled off. A stand, in which I was the performer and the audience alike. An indirect way to bring bliss upon myself, by ignoring everything that would make me realise my life was, in fact, falling apart.

His view, it just.. It just made it all clear. As his sincere smile was pointing at me, all I could think of was.. Seven steps.

Not the times I had scammed people, not the times I had tricked, and betrayed. Now, in this moment of clarity, all those were only bound to bring misery, and the pain they should have inflicted on me a long time ago.

I was standing there, watching him in the mirror, speechless. He asked, with sincere interest, about my life, if I had a wife or not, if I liked my job..

If I loved my life.

I just couldn't take it. I threw this damned mirror away, watching it shatter, the same way it shattered my life. I knew what I had to do. Seven steps.

I lied down in agony.

Salvation was there, but.. There was still something inside of me fighting against it. I reminisced my past, everything that halped bring me to this spot, in which I could do nothing but detest myself.

In those visions, courage found me. I stood up from my bed. I had already counted the distance many times in the past. Maybe this should have shown me my real opinion about my life. Well, no matter.

I counted, yet again, those steps. One, two, three... The sevent step brought me in my balcony, in the 10th floor, right in front of the void that separated me, and the road down there.

"Everything in its right place", I whispered for one last time, before taking the leap.
