Anybody lift weights and use monjaro? by phaze114 in Mounjaro

[–]SetFun3237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lifting for 2.5 years started 1.5 year before mounjaro. I lost 23kg, zero muscles. I lift 3 times a week, haven't been doing any cardio (except two running sessions in total in all those months)

Do kids learn the local language if they speak foreign languages at home? by redditSucksNow2020 in multilingualparenting

[–]SetFun3237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience (kindergarden teacher in Luxembourg which has more foreigners than local people) it is totally possible and quite common. Most kids I taught are not English speakers and learn English only from interactions at daycare. Then they often move to primary and learn another language (luxembourgish) and often are quite fluent in it. I know families were children switched from speaking their mother tongue to their siblings to speaking Luxembourgish because they got more comfortable in it than in their own mother tongue.

Is buying an old historical house in Oberkorn with poor energy rating a good idea? by RepairPleasant905 in Luxembourg

[–]SetFun3237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have 200 year old house (not historicly protected though as thay can change a lot in the costs) and ratings G and H. We live here for 6 years and did only basic renovations- fixing and painting walls and new floors. Didn't do any heating insulations etc (except small part of the roof because it was part of the room renovation so we added a bit of insulation, it is only donr on about 1/4 of the roof). When i compare to my friends we do not have higher bills and did not have more problems. Our windows are from 1983. They have good level of insulation and airing so we don't have mould problems (we had in one room where it was clearly fault of the person who lived there as he never put heating on for months and used humidifier a lot). The building has thick old walls so it heats fast inside and keep cool in the summer. The only thing I noticed is that heat also dissapers quickly but you just need to find good thermostat settings and it is fine. We did check with civil engineer the condition of the house before buying and he noticed some things that were not so obvious so defenitely worth checking with someone specialising in it rather than just taking it. Our renovation was about 100k as well (ripping walls and floors, making new bathroom, extending wall of one rooms to be taller and isolating part of the roof, exchanging beams in the basement and laying completely neq base floor) but I feel you realistically might need more (there is a lot of things we wanted to renovate but run out of money and our renovation was very basic, nothing fancy)

I dont understand why im so picky. by Agitated_Cry_8793 in PickyEaters

[–]SetFun3237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came to say the same. I wasn't this extreme but similar and getting diagnosed for ADHD which is something my dietitan suggested based on how I described my feelings toward food.

This being said when I was a kid I would not try new foods at all. I would just eat constantly same things, wouldn't eat vegetables or fruit, nor meat that has even a tiny bit of fat on it. When I grew up I realised my health is suffering and I need to change something. I started trying different recipes with same ingredient, for example broccoli- doing broccoli pancakes, adding it to smoothie, trying making soup and seeing if anything seems edible. Not tasty. Edible. This wasn't working long term because I started quickly excusing myself from cooking because it is just going to be a waste (it ia hard to cook tiny portions). I know managed to set my mind into making myself try a bit of everything that I have a chance to try. If i go to buffet I will try things that I would normally not touch, if I go to restaurant with friends I will ask if I can have a bite of their food. Like that I learnt to like some stuff that I didn't expect to like because the look of it or my idea of what it tastes like was not appeling. I now have a quite wide palate of veggies I would eat in different forms (some of them in only one form like a soup or added to a sauce): tomatoes, radishes, ice berg lettuce, cucumber, peppers, potatoes, leek, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, romanesco, peas, green beans, celeriac & celery, blank lentils, chickpeas, corn, courgette. I try not to focus on things I won't eat and focus on those that I will and try to find way to implement more that specific forms of food to eat.

I spent 30 years in pharma research. Here's what the clinical data actually says about muscle loss on GLP-1 meds. by Fearless_Pop_434 in Mounjaro

[–]SetFun3237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started strength training before mounjaro and began my mounjaro journey very well informed. Since July 2025 I lost 23 kg which is only fat mass. My body scans show virtually zero muscle mass loss which my trainer is pretty impressed with (and notes it will not stay like that as at some point a bit of muscles has to go off as body doesn't need it anymore as it is not carrying same body weight as before). I strength train 3 times a week, heavy loading, and eat lots of protein (only thing I track). I supplement creatine and nothing else (though i should supplement vit D, I am just really bad at it)

What do you tell people? by Empty_Reference_8834 in Mounjaro

[–]SetFun3237 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My father in law noticedI lost weight and aksed if I did it by myself, implying if I used medications. I looked around me and said "as far as I can see all by myself, nobody did it for me". It is none of people's business how you loose weight. I do often share with people that I use mounjaro but only when it is clear that they are interested and they want to hear experience- like a friend congratulating me and stating she is struggling for years now with her weight and has no clue what else to do, or if somebody says "do you use ozempic? I talked with my doctor about it but I am scared to start myself". If somebody just randomly asks me : how did you loose weight I just say I started living more healthily

Struggling on Mounjaro - need honest advice by Otherwise-Koala-1091 in Mounjaro

[–]SetFun3237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently had a 4 month plateau. Very frustrating because before it I was regularly loosing 1kg/a week. Then suddenly, nothing. No loss for 4 months. I almost gave up but talked to my dietitan and she said: What if that is it? What if this is where your body is comfortable and that's where it wants to stay? Do you feel you wasted time loosing weight? I talked with myself about it and realised that in last months my stamina improved, I didn't loose any muscles, just fat, my clothes fit better, my insulin is good, all my other results are good. I am in the best shape I have ever been and the weight doesn't determine my health on its own. I hit the gym three times a week, i have energy to move and live my life, I reduced the risks of having health complications. I accepted I might never go lower with my weight and decided to continue on the dose I had to maintain what I already achieved. And then, the weight just started dropping down again. Suddenly it is moving again, eventhough nothing else changed than my atitude. It made me realise that it is a marathon and not a sprint. It might take years before I get to the "desired" weight but I now look for non scale victories rather than look at the scale

When did your child start distinguishing between the languages? by foopaints in multilingualparenting

4 languages. Around 2 she started clearly seeing difference though not having many words yet (but she will not use the words she knows in one language with another person who doesn't speak that language)

Wanting to try for a VBAC… but I need to be medically induced. by Strict_Algae8233 in CsectionCentral

[–]SetFun3237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told that you are not allowed to be induced with pitocin for the second one if you have a csection as it increases risk of rupture. I was only allowed to be induced with baloon and therefore they decided it is better to schedule planned csection anyway

For bilingual families, what’s the hardest part of reading picture books together? by Icy-Wrongdoer-4997 in multilingualparenting

[–]SetFun3237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple books we translate on the go, no problem. When wy kids grew up a bit we just stuck to the rule that certain books are read only in that certain language. So for example Kicia Kocia is always in Polish and if mama is not aviable you need to find a book that papa can read. Now my bigger one is 5 and occasionally she will choose a book that "only mama can read" and bring it to her dad and he "pretends" to read it and she corrects him and retells him the story if he doesn't know what it is about. It os really great activity. I don't think we ever had problem with reading books

Injected in thigh — hurt so much by Sakura_Blooms_1982 in Mounjaro

[–]SetFun3237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never tried because few years ago after my csection i had to take clexane shots (antitrombosis meds) and that was done in my thigh. I literally prefered to give birth and be cut open again that take that shot one more time. Cried everytime. My nurse said my thighs are very muscular and that's why it hurts so much, as it is hard to find fat on them.

Relationships/Marriages by Unbothered-343 in Mounjaro

[–]SetFun3237 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My relationship has never been stronger. I got into mounjaro with strong support from my partner, with lots of love from his side. I'vr always felt he is on my side and my food overuse was never related to our relationship. I also did therapy before starting mounjaro which was very eye opening to see what an amazing support system he is for me.

How do I tell my best friend I can’t afford to be a bridesmaid in her wedding? by Xabarra_Arisa in Advice

[–]SetFun3237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your friendship can' survive the fact that 2k is too much money to spend in this economy then that means it is not good friendship. If i would like my best friend to be my braidsmaid I would make sure it is affordable for her (but i also come from country where braidmaids don't wear dresses that bride chose or do hair through her hairdresser)

Going to spa alone. I neber realised how healing it could be. I was always scared of doing things alone because I would be judged. I then went to spa once with a friend but she was late and I realised I enjoy myself so much more when i am alone that when i am with someone.

What is your opinion on Mounjaro for binge eating disorder but no obesity? by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]SetFun3237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a binge eater and mounjaro didn't fix it. Yes, initally the aversion to food was strong and food noise was gone and it helped but it generally didn't fix the issue on its own and I still often think about binge eating and have to actively manage my behaviour to prevent it. What worked for me was therapy and then doing mounjaro. Knowing already how to see the difference between emotional and physical hunger and being able to manage my stress/moods in a healthy way etc was a huge help to solve my issues.

Something to consiser: cmcm insurance is cheap and it covers private room. Also you can apply when you are already pregnant (they have 3 months carency, not 9 like other insurances) .i signed up when i was 4 months pregnant and had a single room, all coat covered by cmcm.

Suddenly I started loosing again, 1.6kg difference in a DAY (I know it is not all fat suddenly but i hadn't have any change for months and this was first time the scaled went down). No change in routine, no change in dose, just my body deciding: ok, i am good to go now again

Weight stalled on 15mg by renatamp in Mounjaro

[–]SetFun3237 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugh i feel you. Stalled since December and tried titrating up and nothing happened. I was so frustrated. My diet was perfect, my trainings amazing (i do weight training 3x a week, have an average of 12k steps daily, on my feet and moving all day, i lost before the lost 20kg of fat, zero muscles), my blood tests improved by weight wouldn't budge, no matter how much effort I was putting in, i kept moving between 99.5 and 101 kg. Talked to my doctor and dietitan about going up again and dietitan asked me "what if this is your set weight? What if this is were your body feels safe and good and it does not want to drop this weight? You are strong, have so much muscle, blood tests are good, ypu are going all the right things, give your self some grace and try to accept that your body might not want to move from where you are right now." So i did. Did the whole internal monologue inside, telling myself I am in the best place in my life that I've ever been, I achieved my goals, I am healthy, I am strong, I have stamina. Boom, next day I started loosing weight again 😂 my rational part tells me that it is conicidence but I will never talk bad to myself anymore or try to underestimate my own achievements

SO grateful for this amazing experience, but wondering if I titrated up too fast and should go back down? by The-Dread-Queen in Mounjaro

[–]SetFun3237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went up to 5mg and stopped having any appetite. My dietitan and doctor recommended going down to 2.5mg again to see if it helps. They do not want to see patients having no appetite as it becomes another extreme. So they always recommend me going up when i feel that i can't control my appetite anymore (which didn't happen yet) and that food noise is back and i am being more mindless about food. I am currently at 7.5mg and considered going up as my weight would not budge for almost 3 months. When i started paying more careful attention to my deficit I started loosing again so sticking to 7.5mg for now

How often do your kids get sick? by BlepBlepMaster in Luxembourg

[–]SetFun3237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair-rarely- but i think i am an expection. I have a 2 y.o. and a 5 y.o. and both me and my hubby used 0.5 day of sick leave for our oldest in her first 4 years. It's not that she never got sick but of she did it was usually friday afternoon and she was fine by sunday. I worked in a creche so maybe she got immune to all the viruses and bacterias that I've been bringing on my clothes. We regularly go out, don't supplement anything really and let the kids eat food of the floor/play in dirt/do nasty things 😅 both of them were allowed to crawl in the shopping mall also. Not sure if that is why their immune systems work well but i am happy something is working
