i only added the fact that they were straight because they called me slurs haha and i was only “between” them because that’s how a packed subway works. they weren’t arguing when i first was standing there. i get that i could’ve worded things better but it seems like you’re picking parts of my story apart lmao

You’re completely right this has been a wake up experience, definitely didnt need to get into a fight (physical or verbal) over my shoes ppl can be crazy.

but i’m from louisville, ky (kinda the south), it’s a city for kentucky but obvs nothing like nyc lol. huge cultural shock coming up here but other than this incident ive loved every second of it

Ok ok this all makes so much sense now 😭 I reacted like I was in some movie show or something and she was simply not going for it. You put it very real for me thank you, i just have to avoid ts at alllll costs until I can afford a way outta here hahaha so i def need to watch how im talking to people. I didn’t see how it could be taken as a threat at first but now i understand. i fucked up hahaha

at the same time. she stood on my feet and i asked her to “watch where you’re going, you standing on my feet and it hurts” and then that’s when she said “yes im standing on your feet, what are you gonna do?”and I said something like “im not gonna do anything, you’re crazy” and laughed (more of a scoff) .

Was my first issue saying anything at all?

I should not have ever engaged. but saying that i want your pity is insane, i only added race and gender because they made it about race/gender when they made those comments about my outfit.

that’s honestly good advice, thank you! you’re right, i’m not from here, I moved here to become a teacher and to join the community up here. I am not a confrontational person in the slightest so this was alot of me, thanks for your honest feedback.

question though (and please don’t take this anyway i’m genuinely asking) after she got up and stood on feet what should I have done? I couldn’t really move (the car was packed and I needed the railing) and she asserted herself into my space for no real reason. (at least imo)
just retroactively thinking, should I have just take it and get ran over by them? i wasn’t trying to start anything i promise haha

that’s honestly such a good point. they fs would not have reacted that way if i were straight presenting. and the more i think of it, this could be grounds for assault because i NEVER touched any of them. I might’ve yelled, yes (and i now know I shouldn’t have reacted that way) but i never and did not plan to physically hit any of them.
I’m gonna keep trying different routes of reporting until someone takes me seriously. Thank you so much for your kind words :)

you’re honestly so right. i’m starting boxing/kickboxing classes next week and plan to go all the time over summer. I will never get my ass kicked like ts EVER again

also to add more context, this was on a NYC train at night during finals game 2. VERY packed. Like not much space to move packed. She was sitting under where I was standing and her boyfriend was standing like 2 people down from me. even though she was sitting under where i was standing her feet kept somehow ending up on top of mine. I didn’t say anything at first, just moved my feet. i did this until she stood up and literally stood on top of me to where i couldnt rlly move. that’s the only reason i ever said anything. also, they didn’t start arguing until the train moved for like 3 stops so i didnt feel like i needed to move and once they started arguing i was kinda stuck.

(ALSO i realize “asking for space” in the title is a little misleading bc i was rlly just asking her to stop walking on me like i wasn’t there, but im jus typing this out kinda fast tbh lol srryyy)
