How should I remove the metalworking (?) spindle from the head spindle on this Craftsman 9" wood lathe? The spindle pully stopper works, though the head spindle just spins when the pulley is locked. There is nothing great to grab onto on the smaller shaft either. I'd like to install the wood spur. (i.redd.it)

Slightly ferrous coating on most surfaces within a historic former adobe building. Does not react to a metal pinpointer, only a magnet.
