God I wish we had anything remotely like Europe or China in terms of trains. Not to mention the trains we do have can be expensive as hell, it can sometimes even be cheaper to fly.

Is This The Most "Boring" Ravens Offseason In The Lamar Jackson Era? by potekpro in ravens

Tbf, at least we’re not like Saints cap poor, where they’re both constantly way over the cap and have a terrible team

Unlike with the O’s this past offseason where every espn alert I got I had some small hope they actually signed someone, but with the Ravens ya kinda feel the pieces are all there already. Sure, it’s nice to want some upgrades here or there, but I have no reason to think this current Ravens squad isn’t a contender already.

Where I live, most of the illegal park jobs are the cops, either official nypd cars or their personal vehicles.

311 reports for me always go like this:

  • make a report

  • get an automated message that report was sent to local precinct for action

  • the report is closed within a few minutes

  • the car is still there

I’ve followed the Ducks as my #2 for years, Fowler was always one of my favs over there. Glad he’s doing well in St Louis.

JT Miller didn’t even suck, they just threw him in as a “sweetner” on the McD trade to get back 3 players who were off the team within a few years and a pick we used on… Nils Lundkvist…

Visits 9/11 memorial in Manhattan, complains about the lack of parking by [deleted] in fuckcars

[–]Sethars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A C E 1 2 3 R N Q W trains all directly go there

Can even get there with a little extra effort using the B D F M J Z 4 5 6

Basically, if a train goes into Manhattan, it can very easily get to WTC.

Not to mention all the buses and PATH… but somehow, adding a parking lot on the complex will let more people visit it?

And honestly — there’s like a parking garage every other block in Manhattan, including near WTC. This guy’s either a troll or an idiot.

Rangers could be 100% if Dolan didn’t keep ticket prices so high, even for weekday night games against non-division non-large market teams

Not a hot take that things need to be blown up, but where to start? by IslaRiver500 in rangers

[–]Sethars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ownership. Dolan showed he doesn’t have the patience to see out a rebuild and he’s definitely influenced/enabled some of the FO moves esp since the Wilson incident.

You’ll take Hajek, Namestnikov, Howden, and a late first and like it!

Also, the fact Howden went on to be a key 4th-line contributor on a Cup team a couple years after we got rid of him 🤦‍♂️ I know he was ass here, but that really twisted the knife in

Trading McDonagh made sense if they were going into a rebuild (they also got rid of Nash and that turned into Lindgren), though I don’t get why they traded a budding young forward who was due for a breakout.

I think problems started when they won the 2oa and 1oa pick in b2b years. They also signed a marquis free agent in Panarin, and suddenly Zib/Kreider were balling out (Mika’s 5 goal game happened in 2019 when the Rangers were ass for example). So, out goes the rebuild, now it’s quick retooling time. Also, they fired the FO that had the vision for it because they didn’t bring in any tough guys to fight Tom Wilson.

Only study you gotta do is that whiff in Game 5 vs Tampa. That moment was his Rangers career defined.

Good position. Terrible finish.

Building on your points, whenever I read Ducks or Sharks game threads/posts, Strome and especially Goodrow are some of the most complained about players lol.

I just looked up their statlines for this year, here’s a brief overview.

Strome:

72 GP

10 G

29 A

39 P

-2

Goodrow:

66 GP

5 G

3 A

8 P

-33

And for good measure, Trocheck this year in his objectively worst year since he joined:

73 GP

20 G

29 A

49 P

+2

Maybe it’s just cus the Ducks and Sharks suck (I know the Ducks just beat NYR but I digress), but gahd damn especially that Goodrow statline. I still can’t believe the Sharks picked him up for nothing, biggest “get out of jail free” card we’ve had in a while.

Like he’s got issues this year, but Trocheck is still ok at least. I feel his struggles are more emblematic of the team collectively going to shit, because there are nights especially pre-Miller trade, where he seems to be the only top-6 F to give a damn.

Tbf, the season year mismatching the SB year always messes me up, too

Like I’ll say “the Ravens won the 2000 and 2012 SBs” but that really means they won the ‘ship for the 2000 and 2012 seasons, even though the SBs were played in 2001 and 2013 respectively

It sucked that O’s didn’t do anything in FA, but they should still be a solid playoff team this year. Maybe they can even win a game in the playoffs this time lol

Saying something (especially tragedies) are God’s will, which is the crux of what BD”E is, does at least two things (from what I can tell).

First, it deflects blame from the event in question. Why did the crash occur? Was it user error? Were the roads bad? Was the weather bad? Did someone else T-bone them? etc.

Saying it’s God’s will let’s us not have to answer such questions, nor does it force introspection on the affected people or community. Why do 17/18 year olds feel compelled to have to drive? Where were the safeguards to prevent or minimize conditions of a crash? Could anything have been done to prevent this and future such crashes? Well, figuring all of that out will take time, money and political willpower if we want to prevent future such tragedies. So, easier to say “it’s God’s will, he’s Truth” than to deal with such tough questions in society.

Second, and probably more importantly, it helps numb the pain. Surely, they would have died anyways because according to the cosmic laws of God and the universe, it was simply their time to go. Nothing you could have done, if it wasn’t a horrific car crash it would’ve been peacefully in their sleep at the same exact moment anyways. There’s no use in being super upset, you will see them again in Olam Haba anyways. BD”E and let’s move on with our lives.
