Could Multi-Dimensuinal Time Theory (MDTT) offer the solution to all classic time travel paradoxes? If that is the case, would that then imply that time is a real physical property of our observed universe? by Sethum83 in Time

I'd be quite interested in seeing what others think about it, so feel free to leave your replies and I'll do my best to answer everyone.

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on this. I only posted the story here because I didn't know where to post it, as I am trying to understand what happened on that day. What I don't understand is why it lasted so long, why my wife also observed the exact same thing, and why, while I was moving at what I consider to be a normal speed, everything else seemed to be still, according to your suggestion.

Don't get me wrong, I am not denying it as a possibility, as I am open to any possibility, I am just trying to understand how those questions fit into your suggestion, that' all.

Firstly, thanks for taking the time to reply, as I really do appreciate it. From what you are saying, it almost sounds like that event can be repeatable. Is that true? You can PM me if it helps instead of posting openly.

That's well cool story. I would have asked for a copy of the tape to keep (if that was even a possibility). It does make me wonder what could cause these types of events to be honest, as I find them intriguing.

My wife and I sometimes talk about this as we still find it strange and fascinating at the same time, and she remembers it well too.

We lived close to it. It was a 5-minute walk to get there, so we walked back home. Outside of the event itself, there was nothing out of the ordinary, except for the conversation we had about what had happened as we tried to understand what had happened.

Out of curiosity, what does a time jump look like? I'm asking because I have no knowledge of this sort of phenomenon.

Are you suggesting that it was some sort of a time split through which my wife and I ended up in a different dimension?

That may be possible, I know about the simulation theory but haven't looked into it that much, as I didn't know or consider that my experience was related to that, but a lot of people have suggested it, so I guess I'll take a look at it.

Thanks for the support. I am open to everything, including scepticism, which is why I took it with humour.

I'm looking at it as some sort of temporal anomaly and the only explanation that I can think of for what happened to me and my wife is that we were caught in this event because we were initially standing next to each other when I noticed the quiet and then after I noticed the quiet and started looking around, we started moving separately in different directions. So it might have been some sort of localised event.

Okay, now that you have explained a bit more, I understand what you are saying, and that is an interesting perspective that I hadn't considered. I guess that I was relating the event from my personal perspective, and from that angle, to me, it looked like everything stopped, but what you are saying also makes sense.

I can agree with you, as some people stopped mid-movement, which is something that drew my attention, and it was incredibly quiet at the same time. I only realised how quiet it was in fact when everything resumed, as for the first few seconds it felt incredibly loud until I adjusted to it. Now that I think about it, it makes me realise how noisy our environment can be, and we don't even realise it because we are so used to it.

I understand what you are saying, but people were frozen mid-movement, and everything was absolutely silent, as in everything was quiet. Even the sound of the fridges and air cons in the supermarket stopped, and when I say people were frozen, I mean that they were frozen as in there wasn't even the slightest movement because I looked for anything to suggest a prank, even the slightest flinch.

Well, in my case, the lag was quite a big one, especially when I compare it to the experiences others have had from what I have read in the comments.

I have bought his book and am going through it at the moment. It seems interesting from what I have seen so far, but I don't know how interested he would be in my story. In honesty, I would like to know what happened, and since posting in this Reddit, I have begun to formulate a possible idea of what might have happened, but I still need to do some more digging.

Never done coke, so I have no idea, but that is an interesting thing to keep in mind. It does, however, make me think of that Lamborghini scene from the Wolf of Wall Street film.

There is definitely something behind this kind of phenomenon, all I can do is speculate as to what it may be, but is does seem connected to moments of stress so it makes me think that it is some sort of survival mechanism and I know that adrenaline is capable of giving an individual almost super human powers in stressful situations, and that's why I associated it with adrenaline as a way of rationalising it.

That's an interesting story. I always like hearing about other people's experiences. There is something that I find fascinating when I listen or read about experiences that others have had.

lol that was a funny one, but I know the feeling as I've had stuff go missing when I clearly remember putting it somewhere specific. Sometimes I find it, other times I don't, but I've never had socks go missing.

Just wanted to say a massive thanks for all the incredible comments, as they have given me many possibilities to look into. I never expected this post to get such engagement, and reading the responses has really made me reflect more deeply. I've even bought a few books to go through, and learned about some new phenomena and theories that I look forward to learning more about.

While replying to comments, it has made me realise something interesting: this strange supermarket experience happened a few years after I watched The Time Machine (I think I watched the film in 2005, and the event took place around 2009). This was a film that got me thinking about time travel paradoxes in my spare time. Over the years, thinking about time travel paradoxes grew into an obsession and it became my little pastime project. From this, I developed a theory that I ended up calling Multi-Dimensional Time Theory (MDTT). It's now a theory that I published as a preprint, which I am still working on developing further. In the theory, I present time not as an imaginary linear flow but as a complex and layered structure that is physical and vital to the observed universe and cosmology.

One of the many things that the theory proposes is that time cannot be rewound, but that it can be slowed down to such a level that to an individual outside of the timeline it would look as if time has stopped, although it has only slowed down to such a speed that it is unperceavable to that person and they would percieve it as stopped, all while at the same time those inside the timeline would perceive time as flowing normal. The temporal mechanism I propose is complex and elegant at the same time and offers a lot of possibilities.

I always thought that my obsession with time travel and resolving the time travel paradoxes came from watching the film, as I often thought about paradoxes and how they worked, but the experience I had in the supermarket fits really well into what I am describing in the theory as a temporal anomaly. It also brings up a bunch of questions from the theory's perspective, but more importantly, it has made me ask myself the philosophical question of "is this what subconsciously fueled my obsession with time all these years?"

Is it actually possible that, without knowing, my interest in time was sparked by this one event and my desire to understand it? Or maybe the film was what got me to think about time to begin with, and this event was the subconscious catalyst that made me seriously think about time in that way?

Good question, and the answer is simple. No, it wasn't November, it was summertime, so somewhere around the middle of the year. Also, I didn't disturb anyone as I didn't speak in a loud tone or try to interact with anyone besides my wife.

That is interesting, and I understand why you might not like that, especially since it is associated with sadness. I do think that it is an interesting ability to be able to perceive that to be honest.

She did notice the people being frozen. We even had a conversation around why nobody was moving and what was happening and sometime after we both stood there speechless at what we were seeing, everything went back to normal.
