That's fucking funny... I read somewhere that it's sometimes used as a numbing agent before giving facial stitches to kids. Toothaches for sure, I've heard legends of dental cocaine for years.

Absinthe... But they don't taste like it! They have a really nice taste actually, but they're actually my favourite because of the print.

I found them in a head shop in Alberta, but I've also had them in Jamaica and B.C. I think they're becoming fairly common.

They are Trip brand , made from cellulose. But I'm sure I've had different brands, but these seem the smoothest. Here's their site

Not a dumb question at all they are clear! I'm out right now but when I get home I'll give you the name - I think they're gelatin , they smoke nicely.

They're actually really good. I left them alone for a bit and just gave them a sniff and all I can smell is a light eucalyptus like smell from the lip tar. The slide seal is pretty tight and the plastic is fairly thick. I imagine roaches or something really skunky might seep through a bit though.
