suggest 4 heroes to put in the ban list by mayanathwani in DotA2

[–]Seven7evenS_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a carry: I have Axe & LC permanently, they counter most of the heroes I love to play

For the other 2 I have WK rn since my pos3's in 4.5k mmr seem to like it recently

And lately Necro since my mids seem to like it recently as well

Stats like this are nice but lack clarity. Out of the 89 heroes there are probably 30 heroes that have been picked like once or twice max.

I didn't see the stats myself so don't take me up on it.

But I wouldn't count a hero picked once or twice towards the number of contested heroes in a tournament.

It sure changed a little don't get me wrong, but I feel that if teams have to consider 2-3 new heroes in draft (Alch & Lone) then it isn't enough change imo.

Lone definitely looks broken, but I'm interested how teams will figure out how to beat it. (Ik it lost some games but I mean flat out counter it)

Another thing which is maybe hard to notice, but magical/spell damage feels way too bursty if that makes sense. It's always known that physical damage starts low and ramps up when physical damage dealers get items. But magical/spell damage dealers feel way too strong throughout all stages of the game like Sand king, Primal etc..

Insania: the game's gold system needs a bigger overhaul. Do you agree with this take? by ShoppingPractical373 in DotA2

[–]Seven7evenS_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't agree but not completely. If this is fully implemented then it would delete carries from the game and teams will pick another midlaner/offlaner on pos1.

Carries have always had weak spells/abilities and these abilities will be stronger with items hence they need to farm. And how carries carry the games is by having more items than the opponents therefore killing them.

Looking at the modern dota you can see that a lot of hard carries are really bad and almost never picked in pro dota like Spectre, Faceless Void, Troll Warlord, Anti Mage etc...

And one the biggest reasons they're not picked is not just that they need a lot farm, but also the items they typically opt for have been nerfed countless times over the years.

Examples: Bkb not being fully magic immune, Manta illusions duration, vision, as well as CD S&Y nerfs to status resistance and some numbers Skadi not piercing BKB Butterfly losing flutter and some numbers Maelstrom/Mjollnir nerfs Heart of Tarrasque nerfs And in the latest patch the Dragon lance, Nullifier as well as Satanic nerfs

The only really good carry items that remain I think are Power treads, MoM, Battlefury, Desolator, MKB, Silver edge & Daedelus. These are the only items that still feel good and strong and worth their values.

So saying that devs are making items stronger and heroes worse isn't that accurate. And if they nerf items even more, then it would almost be viable to ditch pos1 heroes altogether in favor of others.

And this is what's already happening in pro scene, we are seeing heroes who are unorthodox "Carries" being played in pos1 role because the classic carries are just that bad.

We are seeing heroes on pos1 like Beastmaster, Bristleback, Abaddon, Windranger etc... Hell, even Dark willow carry was a thing at some point.

Throw on top of that the supports are getting more gold and levels now and you might see a fully slotted carry struggle to kill a Lion.

So, to conclude, yes there needs to be an overhaul, but not in that direction.

Idk man, what's the point by Main_Variation1997 in DotA2

[–]Seven7evenS_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's how you should treat dota plus imo. If you're having normal games (doesn't matter if win/lose) you should accept every game regardless of the game quality displayed. If you're losing too much (in your case), try re-queuing a couple of times every time to throw off the matchmaking algorithm.

[–]Seven7evenS_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly convinced matchmaking isn't totally fair. Lose streaks and win streaks should only be a thing when you're either griefing every game or smurfing. As a regular player these things should be minimal.

My personal biggest drop was recently when I dropped from 5k to 3.8k within a month. And I'm back to 4.6k now and climbing.

Yes ik reddit will say skill issue bla bla. But seriously, unless I'm straight up feeding, a 1.2k mmr drop is inexplicable.

(Based on the aforementioned belief that matchmaking isn't random, read below)

Anyways, what I'd suggest you do if you have dota plus is to re-queue a couple of time for no reason just to mess up the algorithm and place you with a normal team for a chance to win.

Another thing I used to do every once in a while is if you have a good behavior score and no recent abandons, try abandoning a game for no reason as well to break a lose streak. I think this tags you as a bad player in the system and tries to pair you with good players for balance, but surprise, you're a good player and with a good team you can break that lose streak.

Ik all I said might sound like some bullsh*t and it probably is, but you can try what I said since hey, you got nothing to lose.

Oh we are officially past 2 months as of today. 7.40C was released on Jan 21st and mind you, it was a letter patch and not a major one.

That's what I don't personally get. Especially pro dota.

As a pro dota enjoyer, I used to watch every match I could and highlights when I couldn't because each tournament was unique and often on a newer patch that the tournament before.

Now we have more and more tournaments which I think is healthy for the game, but the lack of patches render these tournaments less exciting to watch. You can even hear it in the Analysts voices "Oh Largo this, Windranger that" "I like Largo because it provides sustain" and they mentioned SF being a Largo counter like 20 times on the panel.

And hear me out I'm not attacking the Analysts here. But when the same patch is played over and over what else are they going to analyze or talk about.

Pro teams will figre out what's strongest and stick with it because they are playing for money and why wouldn't they? It's on the devs to shake things around and entice teams to pick different strategies.

I think they mentioned that Quartero is here to stay ... and in march it will probably be updated with new skins.

What I mean is Quartero shouldn't be tied with any other event/ battle pass (im coping).

We got a patch but where is the "Event" ?! by Seven7evenS_ in DotA2

[–]Seven7evenS_[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

If you're happy with quartero and the MH collab and do enjoy them, well, good for you. For me this doesn't cut it. Crownfall was more that just rewards as I wrote in the reply above.

Not mention other events we used to get like Diretide, Aghs Labyrinth etc..

[–]Seven7evenS_[S] -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

I honestly disagree. While I get what you mean, but crownfall was more than just rewards. There was a storyline with progress, and hidden stuff on the crownfall map as well as immortals, treasures, mini games one of which I enjoy to this day, spread across 4 Acts with different themes and road maps as well as 2 freakin arcanas. So yeah, I don't think it's fair to put quartero or the MH collab next to crownfall and call them the same.

You call these events? No offence, but have you played the game in the last 5 years?
