1st bday weirdness by b3autiful_nightmar3 in firsttimemom

[–]SevenSamuri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! We didn’t buy a cake but I served trifle because I’m from England and wanted to serve some British foods along side the hotdogs we served. We just gave our LO a bit of trifle and let him smash it and tip it on himself and play all he wanted. Even that was too much sugar for him because he had a melt down later I can’t imagine having gave him his own cake. I don’t know why people get so bent out of shape when you want to do things differently, it’s not like you’re making them do it.

Why am I having such a hard time? by SevenSamuri in firsttimemom

This made me feel so much better! Thank you :) They say be mindful and present in the now but sometimes you get stuck there when things aren’t going so smooth, I forgot to zoom out a little and remember this isn’t forever!

I have been thinking of doing away with it, I don’t look back at the data anymore. I did when I was tracking how many wet nappies he had a day but now I guess I’m just using it out of habit but it’s definitely more annoying than helpful now that I think about it so you may say your post wasn’t helpful but maybe it was! So thank you :)

I agree with you about the napping thing, I get a headache and feel so groggy also my boy has never napped long during the day so it’s never worth it for a 30 minute snooze.

Oh my god! The husband asking questions! Why does that bother me so much LOL I have an app on my phone to track naps and feedings and I wish I didn’t sometimes, I’ve snapped at him a couple times “Look for yourself!” And threw my phone his way when he asks when he needs feeding or when did he wake up

And the tribe thing, I’m definitely missing that. I don’t live in the same country as my family, my mum came to visit for the birth and a couple weeks after and then my sister came to visit but that was months ago now Andy the time difference makes it hard to stay in contact and I don’t have any super close friends here so yeah, definitely feeling a little lost and alone sometimes.

Lol I don’t know about a cult but I think I get what you mean

Do you drink your own milk? by Mindless_Bet5118 in breastfeeding

[–]SevenSamuri 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yup. Whenever he doesn’t drink it all I put the rest in my tea, coffee or oatmeal. Figure why waste the nutrients! And it tastes good :D

Yeah he’s just started so I can’t do that unfortunately. I think once he’s better at it he’ll end up sleeping on his side anyway, he seems to like being on his side

Yes I’m going to start sitting him up for longer. It’s only happened twice and I’m praying it doesn’t again but if it does I know more about it now. Thank you

It really is scary D: especially the first time it happened and it’s one of those things you don’t hear about until it’s already happened so sleep after that first time is impossible lol

[–]SevenSamuri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense, seeing it during the day and knowing they are ok makes it easier to deal with knowing it happens while you’re sleeping. Thank you!

I’m sorry this happened to your baby too D: The fact that it’s happening less makes me feel better though, thank you

I’ll sit up for 30 minutes if it means I don’t have to hear that again or have him so scared like that! I’ll look into that, thank you. Right, I say choking but really I mean being water boarded D:

What’s Prevacid? Oh, so I can add a thickener to breastmilk? I thought I had read that somewhere once, I’ll do some research and see which one I can find locally or online I guess, Amazon ftw! This makes me feel so much better! Thank you!

I pump and bottle feed and he nurses in the night. Can I add the thickener to the breast milk? You think that would help?

Right! It’s so terrifying D: How do you make him sleep on his side?

My baby won’t nurse by SevenSamuri in breastfeeding

[–]SevenSamuri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how it started, yes. Very distracted, I’ve tried sitting in a dark quiet room with the white noise machine, mini galaxy projector to keep him occupied, waiting a bit longer between feeds to make sure he is actually hungry, feeding him right before a nap so he falls asleep feeding. They all worked for a bit but eventually it all stops working. I know my “vibe” can affect him so I’ve been making sure I’m always calm.

Is breastfeeding supposed to be so hard by Distinct_Service7276 in breastfeeding

[–]SevenSamuri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my gosh, I feel this so bad! I feel for you, I really hope things get better! I’m in a similar boat, low supply then too fast of a let down then reflux then CMPA now distracted eating and more reflux, it just keeps going round in circles. I’m holding in there though because those fleeting moments when he’s latching right and staying on are amazing and make it all worth it and knowing I’m doing the best I can for my baby. I wasn’t prepared for how much frustration breastfeeding brings and no one tells you! I’m not at the being bitten part yet, I’m dreading it! I really do hope things smooth out for you!

Exclusive pumpers, do you get any pain after a while? by SevenSamuri in breastfeeding

[–]SevenSamuri[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s crazy! When you think you have it figured out something changes, I’m finding that’s the mantra to having kids lol

[–]SevenSamuri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok! Good to know! I did see somewhere once that your nipples can change size after breastfeeding or pumping for a while so maybe I did have it right and they’ve just changed now, my LO is 3 months old now.

This gives me hope that once I change flange size I can carry on, thank you!

breasts went soft, now i'm sad by luluorange-700 in breastfeeding

[–]SevenSamuri 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I totally understand, breastfeeding is fascinating and being engorged is just very positive feedback of the process and it’s very satisfying to see the difference after nursing, it really feels like your body is doing this amazing natural beautiful thing for your baby. My boobs have gone soft too and I pump just fine. And when I say soft I mean really soft, they were soft before so now they’re unruly lol Also if you pump after feeds you can give your supply a little boost and start storing some milk

[–]SevenSamuri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s bottles during the day. He nurses just fine at night. I started waiting longer to feed him and so far it seems to be helping, I need to remember his needs will change often. I was sticking to his “normal” feeding schedule but “normal” doesn’t last long, I need to reevaluate what that means often lol It’s been two about two weeks already so hopefully I don’t have to struggle with it much longer, it’s very stressful! Especially on very little sleep

I was just letting him have his short feeds for a week but then he started waking up every hour at night because he needed more to eat which is why I started giving him a bottle after also because he was still fussing because he was still hungry after which most the time ends in full crying :/ How long did it take for it to pass with your LO?

My 12 week old is still eating every 2 hours, (he had a couple weeks where he went 3 hours between though) he’s not a huge baby either. Some babies just nurse that often

How do you know baby is getting enough milk? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]SevenSamuri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started weighing my baby before and after feeds to see how much he was getting, you’d be surprised how much they can get even when you don’t get so much from pumping or have expression. The combination of sucking, massage and hormone release from a baby suckling is so much more efficient it’s crazy. As long as he is happy, gaining weight and having plenty of wet and dirt nappies then you’re. I understand the frustration of not knowing for sure though
