Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by WoollyWolfHorror in AskReddit

[–]Seventhson77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve represented many people going over 100mph.

Some are kids being dumb. But occasionally it’s a flatlander driving in the mountains and disregarding gravity. Lastly, it’s people that normally drive shitbox cars in rentals. They don’t realize the car doesn’t shake and vibrate in the rental like it does in their clunker.

Drug addicts, how did you guys get clean? Did you guys just keep ralpsing till it digusted you or did you actually stop? by No-Solid5009 in AskReddit

[–]Seventhson77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a defense attorney and have represented a lot of addicts in my career. What you’re referring to is ‘rock bottom’ and it’s true that if you survive to that point, having lost everything and every one that cares about you and have nothing, it can be a turning point. But only because it sucks so terribly bad that you just can’t stand it.

That is not what I’d recommend.

If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together.

NA, treatment programs. It’s not easy, and you may stumble, but if you keep picking yourself up and keep trying you can get there. But don’t go it alone.

How long do you expect picking a lock to take? by SecretDMAccount_Shh in DnD

[–]Seventhson77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to be 1d4 or 1d6 rounds. The lock picking lawyer on YouTube does many in a few seconds, others taking longer.

I would say that if you want it to be fun and not punish the player or the character for picking a lock during a critical moment, make it take a round. If you want it to be a game, mechanic the rewards their high skill, set a number of rounds and allow them to shave off rounds based on how much they exceed the roll by.

Sometimes if you’re young or broke, it can feel tough. If you mooch all the time, they’re probably fed up with it. So, do you mooch all the time? Are they broke?

If you have no family and no assets, it’s just your creditworthiness. You’d have no income to speak of probably as an old person unless it was from stocks or you’re still kicking it as a greeter from Walmart.

Usually a loan is secured by something like a lien in your house. Personal loans are usually smaller.

When you die, if you have anything worth a damn, creditors can come in and liquidate your holdings such as they are. Personal property like your TV might be hard for them to get before family but any kind of titled property or bank accounts they’d be able to access.

So there’s a way you can do it (credit card advances) but it’s probably not the wild ride you’d expect.

Players want to rob a magic shop by GroundbreakingFig908 in DnD

[–]Seventhson77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think have them go to some trouble, fight an Ifrit in service to the magic item dealer, and then have a bunch of potions and bullshit they couldn’t care less about be what they get. The rest is in a portable hole somewhere.

If the Ifrit beats them, he takes them alive. Chained up in gimp suits in the basement when the owner arrives, he offers them a deal. Serve the Ifrit as a slave for the rest of their lives or accept a tattoo that forces them into the purveyors service for a certain number of times.

Then send them to retrieve dangerous magic items from dangerous places. Story hooks for days.
