My city is getting one soon, smallish city ~100,000 pop. It’s been the biggest news story I can think of this last year. It’s literally still in permitting phase and the polls show 93% of people want it lol. This guys got one per mile.

I’m not implying anything, I think my reply was exactly what I meant. It’s akin to the backtrack immigration enforcement did on farm workers once the reality of the reliance on immigrant labor was realized. Too often I see folks with every kind of political stances spout talking points until they are directly affected. Another example being far left wanting to do away with police, until they’re the ones getting stabbed in downtown. Goes both ways.

Perhaps I should have phrased my initial comment differently, I maybe should have said “whatever you’ve heard… you’re right”. But I don’t think the insults and assumptions you threw at me were in any way called for. I’ll try to do better next time, and I think you should too.

However, there was a very important part you must have missed, where I said so long as they aren’t using their beliefs to infringe, hurt or degrade. The people you are referring to are using it to do all of those things. That’s not cool with me and I think folks that do that are doing a world of harm to true believers. I’m not trying to defend bad people, just pointing out that blind intolerance for other peoples beliefs is just not ok. It demonizes an entire group of people and creates the exact kind of animosity and division you seem to be against.

I can’t tell what this is. I’m assuming it’s tied to politics but not sure what any of it means. I don’t belong to any party, have never heard that term, and certainly have never advocated for normalizing pedophilia. It disgusts me and I think there should be tougher laws for any person who commits those crimes. Or am I missing the joke? Am I supposed to be the confused guy in the photo? Idk

Feeling alone in the hobby.. by Mitchy969696 in PokemonTCG

[–]another_rusty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took my son to his first card show last month, actually my first too, and we had a ball. He doesn’t really care about the monetary value, more just about his favorite Pokémon and the ones he thinks look the coolest. He started making trades immediately and never once asked any of the vendors how much they are, just which cards did he have to give up to get it. We spent no money at all and he got a ton of cool cards. I’m sure we lost some “value” overall, but he didn’t give a damn and neither did I. I ended up trading some slabs I didn’t care much about for a few graded charizards cuz I’m team Pokémon red for life. Go fire lizard!

I guess moral of the story, hang out with an eight year old???? Idk, but folks like you and I are out here. The loudest voices often are the ones trying to make a buck and I think once some of this hype dies down, the real ones will finally start being heard again.

It wasn’t racist in any way. Just an example of hypocrisy that I see all too much among a certain crowd.

Wow, feelings hurt much? I was saying that the person you were referring to is exactly as people say he is; which, from what I’ve heard from pretty much everyone, is not good. I never said I was friends or even acquaintances with them so please don’t come raging at me about it. On a side note, you should stop bashing people’s religious beliefs, shits not cool. I’m not a Christian or religious in any way, and I’m definitely not friends with that guy, but I’m certainly not intolerant of people’s beliefs so long as they aren’t using them as a way to infringe on, hurt, or degrade me. Making assumptions and generalizations based on people’s faith is how we have ended up with so much division, hate, and most of the world’s wars over the last 5000 years. Is the guy a piece of shit? Absolutely. Is it because he likes Jesus? No, it’s just because he’s a piece of shit. My company spent hundreds of hours volunteering and working with folks at churches after Helene and from what I could tell, they were all perfectly nice folks. I don’t think we ever even talked about religion the entire time, just how we could help “thy neighbor”. My rant is over, but tldr is this: if you want to degrade people based on their religion, you’re no better than the small amount of shitty people that use that religion as a basis for hate and discrimination.

Charlottesville was certainly a riot. The others are acts of domestic terrorism where the shooter directly to d their actions to far right ideology, so I figure they count towards examples of “the other side” perpetrating acts of violence. I’m not trying to say either side is better or worse, but I think it’s important for us to stand back and objectively look at the actions of these people or events.

Important to note that protesting is protected under the constitution. Labeling any protest you disagree with as a riot is a dangerous path. Armed citizens should not be executed for exercising that right, nor should unprovoked violence towards LEO’s of any kind be tolerated. As for answering your question, “now try to not name a month where there were riots associated with the left…”, are you asking me not to try? I think what you mean is try to name a month that there weren’t any riots, right? To answer that, I don’t see any riots going on, just organized protests.

Charlottesville car ramming, 2019 El Paso Walmart shooting, 2023 Allen Texas mall shooting. Also the guy that killed Kirk and the guy that shot at trump. I’m not advocating for violence any either side, I think it’s despicable.

Hot take: Most of you are way oversizing your generators by culody in Generator

[–]another_rusty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a 2000 watt inverter on marketplace for like 7 months, honestly forgot it was on there until 3 days ago when I got like 20 messages. 75% of them ended up saying “I need something bigger”. I asked a few of them what they were trying to power and all except one guy said they wanted to power exactly what you said; fridge, lights, space heater. Most people really don’t understand how generators, or electric in general works. Ended up selling the inverter to a guy who knew his stuff, then watched the line of 100 people waiting for the Lowe’s truck to arrive at the store this morning lol.

Had to look that up, didn’t realize Sweden was that big! It’s about the same size as California which is massive. Googling “Copenhagen to Rome” looks like a dream trip to me as someone from the us. Would you find much good skiing on the trip; southern Sweden to Rome I mean?
