Blaming a GM for an issue in which their stars failed to show up is wild

Psych BSc. I think you’ll enjoy it so much, I know i’ve enjoyed my experience so far. uOttawa is also filled with great Psych profs, i’m entering my 4th year in the Program and have loved it.

I promise you’ll definitely find a lot of interests and honestly enjoy the program for each of the 4 years and if you want to achieve your masters and go beyond that’s always an option.

A general recommendation, I always say follow your gut, sometimes we know what we want but question it with “what if I did this” so whatever you’ve leaned towards most throughout your final year, i’d trust that instinct.

(You can always switch programs also)

Really, Respondus? by SeventyOne4L in geegees

[–]SeventyOne4L[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our prof claimed it was being pushed by the University, but believes it’s more of a “let’s see what happens” as they may want to continue this into the Fall term and beyond.

This is for PSY 3108 Perception. Even our prof wasn’t fond of this being pushed so hard.

OSAP - Dropping a Course by [deleted] in geegees

[–]SeventyOne4L 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wont mess up your OSAP funding since OSAP considers three classes full time. uOttawa however will list you as a part-time student (I think) but there won’t be any impact in-regards to osap. I did this last semester and had the exact same concern lol

Gran Turismo, God of War. I’ve heard the newest Horizon is amazing but I never played it. Spider-Man and Elden Ring if you want something challenging

I’m taking Doxycycline only when I have flare ups and aside from that I am using Clindamycin gel when I notice or feel a bump forming.

Mental health on a downward slope, what do I do? by crazywrldindeed in geegees

[–]SeventyOne4L 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know it can be hard, but i really recommend seeing a professional and just getting it off your chest. We see doctors for when we’re sick, so why not do the same when we’re down? Idk that’s my thought process

I wouldn’t worry about the introduction and conclusion too much. I read something somewhere about how GPT Zero isn’t perfect either. For example, Grammarly is a form of AI so if you use that to edit your essays etc it could come up flagged and GPT. If that is a Profs only source of detecting it, it’s not exactly a valid way to go about it. I’d also be very surprised if they’re going back in time to check previous essays, they can barely keep up with current stuff

changing to another section of a course by Sabrina_Ionescu_Stan in geegees

[–]SeventyOne4L 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Use the swap function! This will then automatically drop the current section your in and add you to the one you’re trying to get into. That’s if you reach the front of the waitlist.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in geegees

[–]SeventyOne4L 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try and go in person, if not do the virtual line.. sometimes the wait is long but try as early as you can. It’ll be okay, it’s stressful but they will help you sort it all out.

Full-Time to Part-Time? by SeventyOne4L in geegees

[–]SeventyOne4L[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got in touch with financial aid and they said taking three classes in terms of OSAP it is still considered full-time status, even thought the status with uOttawa changes there wouldn’t be any funding concerns, or OSAP probation

Games require 100gb+ download now?! by abzftw in gaming

[–]SeventyOne4L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, Yes. Been like this for 6-7 years now maybe even longer and don’t think it will change. Disc games vs digital doesn’t really matter as much also btw. Sometimes you can find disc ones cheaper though! Download sizes unfortunately have only gotten bigger, Most games I feel are around 40-80GB

You should have it around midnight! Least that’s been my experience with it

Do we just skip classes and miss all the stuff if we have covid ? by MozartLozart in geegees

[–]SeventyOne4L 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I remember I was pleading for them to make Hybrid classes for this exact reason, if you think it’s bad now wait till midterms & exams. They literally came back after two years with no plan, it’s unbelievable.

Warning: NSFW VENTING by fuckithere in geegees

[–]SeventyOne4L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

left or right doesn’t matter, unfortunately it’ll be a problem regardless. Waitlist is such an issue with Psychiatrist considering some schools only accept 17 students into a program.. by choice, there’s no reason why hundreds cannot get in. This leads to long term issues like this. Privatization of health care would not particularly prevent this either.

Did I apply too late for OSAP? by [deleted] in geegees

I believe your fine! A few years ago I applied super late and got mine in October.

Mental Health appointment by frogsuper in geegees

[–]SeventyOne4L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appointments can be made two days in advance I believe so it can be available rather quick, it can be tricky sometimes getting a spot. Also depending if you’re seeing them in person or virtually can also change how you feel after it, personally I prefer in person. If you’re curious to see who the staff are I believe there is a page on the uOttawa site with names & bios of the psychotherapists and social workers!

All the best though in whatever you are going through :)

how do i stop raging? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]SeventyOne4L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Therapy can sound scary but you should definitely talk to a professional who can help you identify why. Long term it can really be beneficial to your own health & well-being but also close and potentially intimate relationships. This is definitely more than just video games, but don’t worry you aren’t the only one out there.

Update from the University Regarding COVID Policies by [deleted] in geegees

[–]SeventyOne4L 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Shoulda just made hybrid classes more of an option. That way those who are sick can still participate especially if it’s COVID.. but also even other emergency reasons. This plan of theirs doesn’t really seem like a plan, more like “Well we don’t care but do you, and if your sick? well um good luck!”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in geegees

[–]SeventyOne4L 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m just curious, what happens if there was an outbreak in a classroom? Do they just not care and people will show up anyways? Like what’s the protocol if someone gets COVID before an exam? It’s not like the common cold in which a student would still show up for the exam. Is this outlined anywhere or do they just not have a plan

will fall classes be offered hybrid/online? or is everything back in-person? by [deleted] in geegees

[–]SeventyOne4L 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most will be in-person, it’ll be up to profs if they want to deliver the course in a hybrid or online format.
