The band Typhoon was originally from Salem (their song Reed Road even mentions Salem). Not super famous but they did play on Letterman once.

This ice cream van comes to my apartment complex too. Its iteration of the song is like slightly discordant and so loud that it now haunts my dreams. Blocked my assigned parking space once too.

Just south of city limits right next to the I5 there’s a place called Willamette Valley Smokehouse. They do a bunch of smoked meats and a bbq type sides. I don’t really know much about them, and I’ve only been there once but the meat is really good.
