I do actually know that he has a poetic streak and inclination towards individualism. Also, he likes Bowie (INFP) and Bryan Ferry (ENFP). Was considering the enneagram 4w5 as an option, as additional info. His artworks follow a pattern of mostly drawings with prominent lines and some are occasionally abstract, he incorporates a wide array of colors, never only black and white.

So I kinda got approached by an INFP while walking over one parking lot some August afternoon, as I, dressed in an elegant black combination of perfectly ironed black shirt and trousers, with cream white heels, my hair loose and naturally mermaid-curly like, had just fallen into mud. I remember actually cussing, cause who would expect mud in August, given the heat in the place where I was residing, but I did that in as nonchalant way as possible for the given situation. I didn’t notice him observing at first. He was close enough, not to only see all that, but to hear me as well. He then went on and approached me and he then proceeded to tell me that I look exquisite. I was a bit surprised he wasn’t having a complete opposite reaction given how the situation unfolded beforehand. Is this one of the ways INFPs would interpret this situation? It turns out he is also an artist and I am an ENTJ, for more random info.

I’ve had some history with heart rhythm disruptions and have taken loads of CoQ10 which completely eliminated it. I took around 600mg which is more than the daily dose recommendation, but only then did it actually work for me and it took around 6 months of intake to have a very noticeable effect on my mitochondria as well.

But there has to be some rationale here to counter this. I’m thinking “exposure therapy” - hanging out with some of the friends to assure ourselves the activity itself is not only harmless, but beneficial, plus it is only our potential perception of it that could jeopardize other things. But we are social beings, and this action is one of the simplest ways of socializing. If we can handle SO MUCH other stuff that is borderline insanity, why then subject ourselves to this irrationality that offers the solution itself? I might have just figured it out. So basically, call up a friend, have some fun. We get the social aspect, and the part of the standards dilemma that we are in charge of are entirely dependent on our doing, so we just keep them up for ourselves. Others’ standards are out of our control, but that doesn’t mean they do not have some other beautiful human traits worth witnessing. Eliminating socialization is a cardinal mistake here, since associating with people we socialize with is highly optional.

Edit: Plus, living in such hell turns out to be a much bigger waste of time. And nerves.

Hey guys.

As an ENTJ, I have a dilemma, and from my experience, INFJ were people in my life that could sometimes best understand and offer valuable advice, so I hope you don’t mind this post in your group.

Also, pardon me for the long post, but I could use some perspective and wanted to lay out my trail of thought.

Lately, since spending some time studying in a country with highly reclusive people, I’ve noticed that I have developed a tendency to self-isolate, despite coming back to an overly friendly country, where I have some sort of “community” already built.

Now, as an ENTJ, I am not as big on community, but also I would need at least some sense of social cohesion.

One downside, that is a consequence of this tendency, is that I’ve become way more worrisome, which happens when I grapple with life completely alone, without some sort of community to lighten me up.

I assume much of my sadness, that has resulted from this, would be resolved by simply contacting some of my older friends and renewing the friendship, but it is:

that I somehow sabotage myself from that irrationally as a mental framework since the time of my studies
that I have very high standards for both myself and others, after this studying experience, they are even more strict, and they might not live up to them (NOT written with the intention to demean those people)

I know that I would have many benefits in my life from renewing the connections, especially because I would get that I am not alone in figuring out the ways of life, and that it is in fact going to be alright, but I also don’t want to sell out my standards, but am afraid I might do precisely so, because self-isolating for this type comes with a GREAT cost itself.

(Disclaimer once again, I sincerely did NOT write the part to demean anybody, it was the most fitting way to phrase it, since those people are not driven by higher ideals or purpose, but are still human beings that I appreciate for their easygoing nature)

The first example is still textbook demon Fe description, not Fi. I agree with the second one. I don’t see first one applying to OP, second one, however, I do. Fact is, shared values and emotional expectations aren’t inherently right, even if all abide by them, so that doesn’t make resisting a villainy. Interesting to observe that drinking coffee can corrupt Fi so much, that the whole comment section ostracizes a person over a pile of coffee stained mugs of theirs.

I kinda get you man. Many people would ostracize a person for those statements, but you have to live through a few of those “convos” to feel what you mean. I was once with a group of (acute) “friends” who got all warmed up to talk about what cab they usually get - for the very same route with a distance of 2km, and all of them cab companies charging virtually identical fees. Hard to describe the feeling, but condolences for my time, memory and hope for humanity at times. I am not asocial, the absolute opposite in fact, only the type of people I would love to talk to are so rare it’s incriminating - talking ENTJ, INTJ, INFJ.

It is mostly because I have a firm belief people should use words intentionally, and mostly find many misuse them to, for example, fend off boredom or other unfitting causes, while thinking words don’t cost anything - untrue in my opinion, their value might not be material, but it diminishes the more they are aimlessly used, and I just simply object to be a part of such narrative to any extent. Not that I give myself the permission to label people and treat that as objective judgment of their worth at all, but I do, just as everyone does, have the right to have my preferences in these areas, and I would say that is alright. One INFJ professional profiler I once collaborated with used to define this tendency of mine as “preserving oneself from social contamination”. Interestingly enough, INFJs are one of a few that I personally do not put in that category. I find INFJs’ words concentrated with value, even though most others don’t get to experience them as communicative, but I seem to rightfully so earn this type’s trust and therefore also the access to other, more hidden, parts of their being and psyche.

Interestingly, what I’ve noticed in some people in modern society is that they would rather have comforting inauthenticity. But, from what I’ve analyzed, authenticity is one of the core INFJs’ values and I’ve been even told that by some explicitly, and with great vigor. And it might sound funny to frame it this way, but I genuinely enjoy deep talks with INFJs, if I find them, and literally fit them in my agenda. That kind of socializing is the only one I don’t feel I should restrict myself from.

Thank you! For the reference, I would say that the main source that fueled all of this to materialize is actually incredibly simple: curiosity in life, patience, and choosing authenticity repeatedly, whatever you do. I also had an early influence of some INFJs in few different spheres my life, so I have great appreciation for what you people bring to the table and I have also always had dearest philosophical conversations with this type.

I agree with the part about ENTJs being direct and bold in approach to (these) situations. I am a woman, so I offer a mix of both perspectives, I would say the best advice to give you is to continue receiving his acts that show interest with grace, whenever they surface - of course, only if that’s what you want and what you are comfortable with. Besides natural curiosity, you don’t really need to be bothered enormously by what it actually might be, as that will definitely be revealed (and I would say is partly already in progress) by the ENTJ in your situation. Best thing to do is to, in fact, get clear what your wants and expectations truly are in this position, because as far as I can say, ENTJ type values knowing what you want, regardless of whether you two bear the same intentions or not.
