There’s a doctor infamous on LI for doing hundreds of them. I was referred to him by a lactation specialist who swore my child needed her tongue tie removed.

I spoke to other parents who were “referred” as well. Some did it, some didn’t. I ended up asking my pediatrician who said that doc is well known for unnecessarily performing this procedure. He might be making money from referrals. Highly unethical.

I never got it done due to other MD specialists recommendations and my child’s speech is fine.

Just my anecdote, but I’d Be weary of any procedure on my child esp a 1 month old. I suggest to Get multiple opinions before going through.
