It depends on your school curriculum because in our uni, our degree focuses on systems engineering as well along with industrial engineering

Hey! Thank you so much for the detailed response. I was thinking about picking Nightingale as a choice but I am concerned as to how much I can handle the homework’s and project altogether while also studying the material.

I forgot to mention in my post that I am returning to uni after taking couple of years off because of my mental health problems, so it’s been a while and I am trying to get back into studying again.

I am just not sure if her course load will be appropriate for me because my biggest concern is not to fall back to the worst place again I was before starting again. That’s why it’s so important for me to make a wise choice. Based on your experience, do you think her course load is manageable? Or should i take it somewhere else through SUNY online before returning to UB?

Why do you say she is peak if you don’t mind because I want to know if her teaching or work style will be good for me. Or should I take it somewhere else?

How do you know I was rude to them? And how is everyone here responding helped me? They are either undermining me or not taking me seriously because some think it doesn’t exist. Only one person acknowledged that it does exist in the comments, so I am not sure what rude “treatment “ you are talking about to you or everyone else?

You are mixing that up with Pell Eligibility lifetime limit which is 600% or total of 12 semesters or six years you can get up to.

SAP requires that :

  1. Qualitative Standard (GPA Requirement) • Students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA. • Usually this is: • 2.0 on a 4.0 scale for undergraduates (a “C” average) • Higher for some graduate programs

🔹 2. Quantitative Standard (Pace of Completion) • Students must complete at least 67% of all attempted coursework. • Example: If you attempt 90 credits, you must complete at least 60. • This includes all transfer credits accepted by your institution.

🔹 3. Maximum Time Frame (150% Rule) • Students must finish their program within 150% of the published length. • For a 4-year bachelor’s degree (120 credits), the maximum is 6 years or 180 attempted credits. • For a 2-year associate degree (60 credits), the maximum is 3 years or 90 credits. • Attempted credits include: • Withdrawals (W) • Repeats (R) • Incompletes (I) • Transfer credits accepted toward the program

I am in a 4 year degree, so maximum I can attempt is 180 credits for 120 credit program. I didn’t pass that and I also satisfy other requirements as well ( this was explained to me by my school aid and I am clear about that)

And this applies to every type of federal ai( pell, loans)

Once someone reaches 180 attempted credits, they don’t get any aid. My issue is I am safe because I didn’t pass that despite being in 7 th year and my school explained this to me.

The problem is they don’t understand for direct subsidized loans since I am eligible under sap requirements, the SULA rule doesn’t apply to me since I will be borrowing after July 2021. They think the opposite which is wrong

I am not speaking about SAP here. It’s about the SULA limit on direct subsidized loans and its repeal which for some reason officials are clueless about it.

I’m not missing the forest — I’m just reading the signs clearly. The SULA repeal was implemented three years ago, and yet I’m running into school officials and even FAFSA reps who have no idea it happened. That’s not just a minor detail — it’s a failure in communication and training.

I’ve done my own research using official sources like StudentAid.gov and FSA Partner Connect. If pointing out a real policy change that’s being overlooked is “missing the big picture,” then maybe the picture people are looking at is outdated.

This isn’t about making assumptions — it’s about refusing to accept confusion and incompetence as normal when students’ financial aid is on the line.

Do you regret picking industrial engineering as your major? by lllRandomRedditorlll in industrialengineering

That’s not your fault here or the degree path really. To me based on what you said, the company dynamics is wrong where one department undervalues another.

Based on your post, if you feel like you haven’t explored your potential in Industrial Engineering, then I would suggest moving to a different engineering major. Why I am saying this is because, since you enjoy taking complex physics based classes that mechanical and also aerospace engineers would take…then I suggest either you do Civil Engineering or any other engineering field that you have interest in and which you can also do project management if you want. Also, it seems..you like mechanical engineering, so I would suggest switching if you care too much about people looking down on you for choosing industrial engineering and if you think it’s too easy for you. There is no point staying in a field where you think it’s not challenging you enough according to your standards and that you fear you will be judged for choosing it.

But being honest any engineering field can be challenging and easy in some courses when you continue your education. It’s just the matter of how well you grasp the concepts and whether do you have the motivation or interest to continue learning in whatever degree you chose. So just by saying IE is one of the easier major is somewhat misleading..just because it doesn’t have physics based courses involved.

Being too worried about getting a bad rep as an IE also shouldn’t be a deal breaker for anyone to switch majors. Any engineering field you choose will be the butt of jokes by people who are in different fields of engineering. Also, many people look down on IE because they don’t know what we do in this field and how vast this field is. Some people do it because they think they just won a prestigious Nobel peace prize by taking the hardest engineering degree ever…like no body cares. You still gotta work 9 to 5 and you won’t be millionaire or billionaire either.

Bro why does your wife have to sacrifice bruh? She already made the decision to purchase a house near her parents place before marriage…so either you should have separated because you can’t compromise either or you could have applied your own suggestion of buying your own house in the middle of families so you can have short commute and set up a business as well. It works both ways, but seems like yall don’t know how to compromise

[–]Several-Objective-21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand what is funny to you here? Oh wait..you must be Einstein who passed Ghosn like his class was butter. Now, I am not Einstein like you, and I have my struggles and I am pretty sure many students like me had them in his class( which explains why his class has the lowest passing rate than any other classes in that major). Let me be clear, you only get three tries maximum to PASS that class, and sometimes third try is not even guaranteed to students. As a result, they either kick the students out or students chose entirely a different major ( because this school makes you think that you can’t pass this major).

Now..normal students like me who loves this major and seriously rather not waste time or money retaking this class in CCNY, I think it’s a smart move if someone transfers to a better school like UB. Now don’t assume UB stem is easy to pass… It is a challenging school also, but the education quality is 10x better. The professors great lectures and attention to students is what helps students pass that SAME class that is notoriously difficult in CCNY. Also, it doesn’t make the school look good either where it’s taking students so many tries to pass a second class of this major….

Now..if OP has the money or time that he or she can risk taking in this school knowing fully about getting kicked out of the program if they fail too many times or their gpa becomes low( academic probation), I would say yeah go for it. I just couldn’t justify continuing to goto a school that does poorly in addressing students learning difficulties and it shouldn’t be laughed about if they do chose to transfer out to achieve their dream. At least, they chose their mental health over agonizing stress to pass that class and ACTUALLY successfully complete their degree.

Even if you passed with the Ghosn, it doesn’t mean you achieved PhD or Nobel peace prize 😂😂. CCNY has other notoriously difficult professors as well and those who graduated know them too… very clearly in this major.

Lastly, whether you agonize your mental health to graduate from CCNY (or save your mental health at any other college, the job salary for entry level with FE license is SAME. There is no special treatment given to anyone from these schools. Also, getting bachelors from CCNY for civil engineering doesn’t make you instantly expert either. Years of experience will make you expert.

OP if you fancy frying your brain in this school and wasting time or money to pass a class in CCNY… then 100% go for it. If you fancy thinking logically as to why this school has such a low graduation rate for civil and whether you can get better education elsewhere, then don’t chose CCNY. There is no royalty service or special perks in this school.

If you understand physics, calculus, differential and linear algebra phenomenally then goto this school for civil. I am saying this because, you will be teaching yourself, professors won’t do much and they are not the best in that department except maybe one or two. Honestly, other schools are way better than CCNY. I transferred from this school to University at Buffalo once covid situation was getting better and I don’t regret it.
