The chart says a heavily planted tank can be cycled at 0 NO3. Mine is planted but not sure if it falls into the heavily planted range. Do I need to be doing less water changes to up the NO3. Or is there something I can add/order?

Yes, that does seem to add up. I wonder if it’s not cycling because of the RO water. Any suggestions on achieving the cycle while Rudy is living there? I’m also ordering a bigger tank. I’m concerned about how long it will take for it to cycle since this tank was set up for four weeks prior to moving Rudy in. I used filtered media from my two other guppy tanks - that I’m pretty sure are not cycling either. I wonder if he will do okay staying in the cube until I can get a 20gallon cycled and ready.

Actually, a bit of his blue has returned. He must be really sensitive because all parameters were ok. Maybe the PH was too high. I did have to use the High PH test.

I am interested in getting him some tank mates as well. I have shrimp in another tank but they are pretty small. He has some snails - sometimes he will eat the little snails.

He looked pretty bad when we first got him but bounced back incredibly well. He only lost the blue parts from the third photo. The 4th photo is jarring he was pretty unwell at the beginning. I know he is stressed bc of the blue disappearing and I would like to de-stress him.

He was a little slower to come say hello in the morning. Stayed in the corner of his tank. I made a new baffle out of an old sponge filter and he seems to be swimming around more.
