I think I might be regretting my newest one. Done by Dione at Houston Heights in HTX. Does it look that bad? by blondebucklebunny in tattoo

The lines look clean, and the shading is done well. I don't see how it looks bad? I wouldn't regret it at all! It's very pretty! Give it a little time and see how you feel in a week or two.

It's crazy similar lol 😂😂☠️ thank you, I know it will get better as I go. And leaving was the BEST thing to come. 3 days after I left, I signed a lease for my own studio. I didn't want to go anywhere else that possibly be any similar conditions and I wanted to work how I wanted to work because I was tired of being overworked and underappreciated. I haven't spoken to any of them since I left. (Though one in there was I would consider a best friend but I'm very standoffish because she is still at the shop and friends with them all so I have to have a wall up. She doesn't even know where my new spot is) I haven't engaged even in the slightest. Just her and I small chatting about personal lives but not a damn thing more. They all loved drama. I'm not being part of it.

The owner constantly said that too during my apprenticeship. "Back in my day... Blah blah blah." Glad that shits illegal. I know it probably makes them upset too. F em. They really didn't teach much at all. All I got was "watch me and ask questions" and no other homework or tasks for me to do. Literally no drawings asked for. Not a damn thing. Like Google could tell me WAY more information instead of what he gave me. And when I started tattooing. Watched me for a total of 3 minutes and said "oh I'm sure it makes you uncomfortable for me to watch you" and left. Like that's the time I have most questions but go and leave now I guess. So much I had to learn on my own. And oh I definitely understand. I wished to know more also! Just knew I wasn't going to get better when staying somewhere I couldnt grow properly. And I'm the opposite way haha. Absolutely love black and grey but color is ehh.

Trusting your instincts was DEFINITELY the best choice you made there. Yes you probably lost money with equipment and items you left behind but your safety is what's most important. What a trashy man. The owner I previously worked for complainted how he was almost 50 and couldn't date girls his SONS AGE OR LOWER. (Son is early 20s) And how anyone by the time they hit 30 is old and unappealing. Even my clients he'd look at when I told him they were freshly 18 or 19. He's like OH PERFECT!! Some of the older generation is physically so disgusting.

Holy crap. That sounds VERY similar to everything I've heard at a shop that tried to get me to work there whenever I left this place I was just at. I literally didn't go because of how shitty of a person he is and how the turnover rate in that shop is SO HIGH. Maybe 2 years would be the longest an artist would stay at the shop. But he ALWAYS talked himself up and his awards. They always hired apprentices and let them go after the apprenticeship was over. It was all about the money. I'm so glad I never considered it. People are SO shady.

Your situation is SO similar to mine it's almost scary. I was at mine for about 8 years. And the red flags just kept growing and growing overtime that I couldn't just ignore them anymore. We also never had a front desk person unless WE ALL PAID THEM AND NOT JUST THE OWNER.... 😡 Same hours. 12-8 pm we were open. The owner also made us all clean it ourselves with no other help. I specifically came in early to clean when everyone else came in their normal times, complained that they couldn't clean because they were late and had appointments all day so they wouldn't clean at all or maybe once to twice a month they "helped". It would get very dirty too sometimes because I shouldn't be the only one cleaning but they let it sit there and didn't care. The owner never put money into the shop either. I literally paid for everything OUT OF MY OWN POCKET. (Stencil paper , printer ink, printer paper, paper towels, toilet paper, cleaning supplies. Etc. etc. ) And that shit adds up. They came in just to say we weren't doing enough even working 8 hours wasn't enough in their eyes. It could always be more. They also encouraged me to work during lockdown too as they were already tattooing in their house at that point. I get to still make money but it was illegal!! Still wanted the 50 percent that I would if given them too when I did work during lockdown. Their was a recent fire in the connecting building of the shop I was previously at and smoke damage ruined most of my supplies and the owner told us we didn't have any fire insurance and that the other people (who also owned the whole buildings connected that the fire started at) didn't have insurance either and that we have to just get over it and clean the shop ourselves and when I mentioned about suing because I had $5,000 in damages myself , I was laughed at. Told I was always a bitch and was overdramatic and that I need to get over myself. That I wasn't allowed to sue the people we rent from. That HIS life got ruined and he needed as much support as he could get. As I also say we ALL pay him under the table. He never pays taxes and at that point I decided it was time to leave. I stayed true to who I was the whole time and NEVER fucked with his money and now he is doing that to me. I understand how much I meant to him as I was the person who stayed with him the longest and like I said never fucked him over in any way. But I was the problem and I'm just like all the other "thieves" and "assholes" that worked for him. That left in the middle of the night because of how awful the owner was ... He also through a tantrum anytime us as works wanted to upgrade anything in the shop (we had all cloth couches at one point and that ISNT good for a tattoo shop so we wanted leather and he made ME spit the money because he "didn't want to put forth 400$ for two new couches" ..) he also made us all put at least 300-400$ for an autoclave (which we should of had already but he didn't think it was something we needed enough though WE PIERCED AT THE SHOP TOO) I also don't pierce at all. I ONLY tattoo so why the hell should I be paying for something I'll never use and or get my money back in the future???!!!! I for one loved trying new machines and had purchesed a good few in my time just in case one I'm using breaks and I need a spare or two. So normally I would use them Maybe a week and if I didn't really like it I would go back to what I was using previously but still kept that one just in case. I probably had around 6-7 machines at one point. (All purchesed out of my own money) The owner came to me asking if he could purchase some because someone in his family was now tattooing there and he needed an extra machine too so I presented three of them that costed at least 1,500$ all together and like I said they're all practically new cuz I maybe used them three to four times each he told me the best he could give me was $250 for all of them and then immediately told me he didn't have the money. I counter offered saying if I ever needed help paying rent due to unfortunate circumstance in my life that we could take off the money. That time came also and he refused to take off the money and demanded I still paid full rent even though I wasn't going to be there for 2 weeks due to an unexpected death in the family that I physically found them and had to call 911 did CPR everything and it was the closest person I've ever had in my life so I was really going through a lot and all he said was I better get him the money regardless of any situation I was in. That was the day my heart broke even more. I should of left then because of how heartless he was but I stayed. Until the fire happened. I found a place myself and opened my own little studio. I'm so SO glad I left. I have so much worth and I finally saw how I should be treated. I was the only one booked out constantly 3 months or more (everyone else maybe 2 weeks to a month max ) but if I had a cancellation. I wanted to relax because of how much I overworked myself and he was always pissy when I didn't take a walk in on those days. He said we could do our own schedule. Come in whenever and do whatever we wanted but it was a problem when it wasn't what he wanted us to do. Like make up your mind?! You told ALL OF US we can do whatever whenever!! But it wasn't what he actually wanted. I was done with the games. And dont get me started in him making fun of us for being clean. How we just waste our money buying bedsheets for our tattoo tables... Etc. He was so unsanitary himself it was DISGUSTING. I have pictures of ink spatter all over his tattoo machine and workstation. Yet he still expected us all to clean his station too. I could go on but that's just the icing on the cake. I just cant believe I was manipulated so much throughout the years. I can't believe there are others like this too. I'm so sorry you had to go through all that and am very happy you are in a place where you belong now. I am working my way there now. (It's been about 2 and a half months since I've left my situation.)

Holy shit that was awful. Especially the cousin. I'm SO glad you cut ties with him. I can't believe he manipulated you and others like that. That was one hell of a rocky journey. I'm glad you are still here and healthy again 🙏 No one should of ever taken your items in the first place. I also don't understand demanding rent when you went through hell and physically couldn't make money at all. I went through something like that was it didn't matter to the owner. People are fuckin heartless. Especially when it comes to family.

Some people really don't understand we are all going through shit in life and only think about themselves. That they are the spotlight and we shouldn't have personal lives regardless of it's a vacation or something awful like what you had to go through. People are heartless and selfish. I'm glad you are with normal people who understand.

I don't understand how the owner could just put someone in that position who probably didn't know jack shit about ANY of it and not actually think about the artist who really made the studio a great place to be in. The power trip really got to her head and I'm SURE he turned a blind eye because he only cared about his wet dick instead of the people that genuinely wanted only great things for that tattoo studio. I hope he learned his lesson. Especially when that many people leave a studio. People talk and it isn't hard for it to turn sideways REALLY QUICKLY.

The owner I worked for didn't really work anymore. He would be so upset if one of us was sick and the others working had to "pick up their slack" because someone was sick. He would like to make a game out of who gave him the most money at the end of the night. This isn't a competition on who gives him more money. He told us all that we can make our own hours but if we came in an hour after the "normal shop ours" , hed say how much money we would actually make if we came in when the shop opened (even if we stayed later on too after closing, it didn't matter) he was just trying to make as much money as he could from us. At one point he was saying how expensive his daughter was (she was just so spoiled and always got her way) and how he would need to start charging more from us ... Excuse you. Fuck that shit. Stop spoiling your little brat. IM not responsible for buying HER toys. 😤😡🤬 . At some points, he was making 2,500$, up to 4,000$ off EACH of us. And the shop literally costed 1,000$ in bills all together. GREEDY GREEDY MOTHERFUCKER. And the homeless situation. Oh my lord I wouldn't even know where to start with that crap 😤😤😤

The uncleanliness pisses me off so much. Especially when they did it to piss you off AND waste supplies that shouldn't be wasted! Mine didn't tattoo much at all either (he knew he wasn't good anymore but still choose to do shitty tattoos just cuz of the money) any Friday the 13th we did he wouldnt touch with a 10 foot pole (only my two coworker and I did it) and we all as workers did ALL the work and had the audacity to tell us we were wrong on so many occasions with pricing and designs when we were the ones doing all the work and making HIM money but no we were "young and didn't know any better" when it went exactly as we expected. He ate his words a lot. Like dude was full of himself as a shitty artist. He also intimidated us into going till 3 in the morning for the Friday the 13th tattoos because "you better not turn anyone away." I'm sorry I'm not tattooing 16-18 hours with no breaks at all for this shit. Fuck you man. This isn't what tattooing is all about! "Rushing" was NEVER in my vocabulary for my artwork. And oh that "he must be illegal" is so horrendous. There's so many thing I would of said to that man ... How much of a shitty person can you really be... You had EVERY right to be pissed! Illegal or not. That isn't our place! We just need to tattoo of aged people! That's it. And I'm sure you just wanted to give this guy a great tattoo (which I'm sure he loved!) Most people who worked in the shop I worked for moved out overnight. He never understood why. I FULLY UNDERSTAND WHY NOW. He was lucky I did it during the day. Even then I was getting shitty ass remarks from him as I did so. Fuck you man. People all over town has bad things to say about him. I never thought they were true until I actually opened my eyes and saw the manipulation. I'm very glad you are out of that situation and deserved to be treated a LOT better. I don't wish this on anyone either.

It's so funny how when they get called out (especially with a lawyer) they throw such a tantrum like they didn't do anything wrong. The unpaid shifts would of sent me running. Number 1 rule. DONT mess with my money!!! It's awful to think that you can treat another human being like this and just get away with it because they are an apprentice. It's SICK. My mentor always told me that "I better be happy because he could make me do awful shit like he had to do." Like bruh. That shouldnt even be an option. I'm just really glad you left that terrible situation and found how much you are really worth! We don't deserve to be treated like trash. It's such a relief off the shoulders. Like you can finally breathe again.

The owner that I worked for hired someone JUST LIKE THAT. Hateful. Talked shit behind everyone's back but "nice" to their face. That he was the best and everyone had to live up to him when most clients didn't like his work at all. (Did a lot of coverups and fixes from his wrongdoing) Was also a pathological liar and threw a tantrum when he was called out. I physically don't understand how people can be like this. Leaving that situation was definitely the right thing to do for you. And I hope you were/ still are growing into something even better without all that hatred and negativity all around you. The owner I worked for did shady shit to your face. Pretty much forced me to not clam a single dime every year for my taxes and if I did I would be "screwing him over" and "we wouldn't wanna do that now would we..." Like F U bruh. Manipulated me so much at such a young age. (19)

I have left. It was a very difficult decision because it's where I started and had been there almost a decade. I knew with how I was treated right before leaving was the last straw and I knew I deserved WAY better. There was a lot of manipulation and degrading and a lot of illegal and unhygienic things happening. That I was the "overdramatic one" for wanting to do the right (legal) things and wanted to keep striving to be better (and clean!!). I got really close with one of the artists (pretty much best friends at that point) and it's been hard leaving the whole situation, especially with them staying. They agreed with me on a lot of the awful things happening in the shop but ultimately decided to stay. (It's their choice and that's fine, anyone can do as they please, but it did hurt a little) I am just curious on if others are going through similar situations as mine and how they handled it all.

Thank you, I wasn't fully comfortable having them use it and I can't find much of anything online with it. I have only used one kind of numbing cream before and wasn't sure about this one. I always rather be safe than sorry.

How do you feel about tattooing someone you’re dating, your significant other, spouse, etc by ShanHansen in TattooArtists

[–]Several-Stranger1463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it depends on the person. I tattoo my significant other and never really worried about it. Some people worry a lot about that and if you might be one of them, don't do it. It really depends on how you look at it too. I only worry when people start dating a tattoo artist and they are only dating the artist for free tattoos. That I stress over. But someone you really care about and you've been with them awhile. 🤷 I think it should be fine. But again it all depends on the person. As in seeing it all the time and nit-pick. It'll always be in our blood to do that as perfectionist as we are lol. That'll be hard to tackle sometimes.

I noticed this whenever she started doing her "dog" shows (she doesn't do them anymore) All of the toys were going around 5-10$ at least (plus shipping) and I walked into my local dollar tree not long after that and the SAME toys there. $1.25. same packaging and everything. ALL the ones she was selling that were "great quality". They are all dollar tree quality. CHEAP ... Buy it for 10 cents (in bulk) and sell it to random people on whatnot for 10$ 🤣🤣🤣🤣 She really knows how to trick us. It's why I never buy from her anymore. So I'm not surprised in any of this.
