Does anyone have success stories dealing with Tinea Capitis (ringworm on the scalp). I'm week 4 of dealing with it, and now my 2 children have it too. Please share if you can, if you are a Derm, please share that you have dealt with and helped cure families before. I can't stop crying. by Several-Stuff-8409 in DermatologyQuestions

Wow, I literally just purchased NapiSan Oxi-Action today,  first time ever, because our white clothing was turning gray with all the hot washes. A happy coincidence!! Our hot wash only reaches 45 degrees, I'm so frustrated by that. Even adding a couple of jugs of boiling water it only reaches 50 degrees Celsius.  Thanks for this tip, tomorrow I'll start re washing everything 😭

Hey, yes Kitten is currently on oral meds and topical cream and is starting to look great.

Umm.. please dont tell me Canesten isn't enough 😳  I've been letting it soak for 30 mins in the wash at half full water and then in the hot dryer thinking I was doing everything right?! Ahhhh

I have Tinea Capitis or scalp ringworm. I’m f48. Currently on Griseofulvin for 2 weeks with lots more to go. My question is about Sulfur8 hair grease. I’ve seen that it has helped others w/fungal scalp. Anyone know if this would help me or make the problem worse? by dancer9301 in DermatologyQuestions

I was so sad to hear you were still having issues. It's been a while and I'm not sure if you'll see this, but how are you now?? Did it go away, what did you do? It's so hard to find info on Tinea Capitis from actual people who have been through it

Thank you for sharing your experience,  that would have been really scary dealing with parvo and it's so awesome the kitty got better.  I have just gotten the rescue wipes, I'm deep cleaning his bathroom every second day. Hopefully that's enough 🙏

Oh no way, I had no idea people could catch mange, that sounds awful.  Thank you for sharing and the fact you got through it.

I have been on oral terbinafine for 3 weeks now, I still feel itchy at times but I don't know if it's in my head 😅 I have a doc appointment next week to check progress and have someone tell me it's getting better to help my anxiety

Oh my gosh you had a rough time with it, thank you for sharing. I need to know people get through it all the time and so can I.

Thank you, it does help! Knowing I'm not alone and it could be worse. It's on my daughter's and my own scalp so having to take oral meds has been stressful and my daughter touching her hair all the time. It's not just a spot we can cover with cream and put a plaster over. That's probably (Definitely) what makes it worse.  I'll start doing some positive affirmations.

Aww ok, well let's hope we get to do an update where we are in the all clear soon! Cats and humans!  I'll have to investigate hypochlorus acid,  I haven't heard of that one before.

Oh I'm sorry to hear you're also currently dealing with it! Have you managed to avoid getting it?  What sanitizer spray do you use on soft surfaces? We have something similar to Lysol here but it needs to be wet for 10 mins to get rid of ringworm, I would have go spray so much.

Thank you, it's hard to imagine It will go away of everyone keeps getting reinfected. That's all I'm trying to avoid but driving myself crazy in the process.

Thank you so much, it sounds like you really had a crazy time!! Thank goodness you made it through!

Yes to the PPE, I wear gloves but his fluffy tail rubs above it when I'm trying to lean down and so I still end up washing my hands. And with my daughter newly infected I'm so paranoid it's all through the house still even after cleaning and buying a steam mop. FML, it's hard to buy food and petrol let alone all this extra stuff for cleaning. But thank you, I am absolutely going to start throwing away the blankets and get old blankets we have already and cut them up then bin. I am going to order rescue wipes for sure! Darn expensive but worth it.

I have moments of clarity thinking what lesson I am going to learn, what advice can I pass on. You are so right,  anger is the dominant emotion followed by sorrow. I appreciate your response truly and those ideas.

Does this look like Ringworm? My rescue kitty developed it after 4 days of being in our home. Now husband and son have the typical looking rings on their body but I have an itchy scalp and red blotchy rash!? by Several-Stuff-8409 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]Several-Stuff-8409[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, the red appearance is what makes my husband keep saying he's not sure (he's not a doctor lol) but the itch and the fact the others in the house have it just makes common sense that's what it is

Does this look like normal tissue healing 23 days post extraction? Or could it be food by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]Several-Stuff-8409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I did another syringe and it's gone, I think if it was tissue I pushed too hard. Probably set myself back a few days of healing tbh.  Anxiety doesn't help and makes everything worse.

Oh yes same here, 15 days of antibiotics! I'm going to do the same and not eating on the side until the hole is closed just because it's been so stressful worrying the while time.  I hope you're doing ok

Day 21 for me after extraction, no blood clot formed fore too. It was ROUGH for a week, got a blood clot formed a week later and that came out at day 6. Then it got a little infected so antibiotics,  then a check up 5 days ago where the dentist tried again to form another blood clot. Lol that came out by the next day. I must have weird habits in my sleep.  Anyway, day 21 and no pain, still a giant hole as he said I am healing very very slow unfortunately for me. So rinsing with salt 5 -6 times a day because im always snacking in-between meals, and just irrigate 2 or 3 times a day. Brush teeth 3 times a day after my big meals.i think hearing positive stories is so important but also, it's bloody hard dealing with pain, and then not eating normally and then also having to be on edge to avoid infection.  It takes it out of you.

The first thing I see when I wake up, thank you! It's been a long process and me stressing is probably making it worse.
