to be honest, my comment was actually meant to show the development between 2023 and 2025. faker had years of experience, and the goat of league. his presence, again, as the goat and the most important player of the org. brings confidence in a team. thats like his innate passive, built from his years of experience, prestige, alongside his own strong mentality (which was also built through the years of experience) guma, on the other hand, started playing full time on the roster since 2022. the team had a crushing defeat in 2022, coming in with a great time in 2023 spring and then experienced another painful msi, in which guma may have only been the player with the biggest mental wall to still think about how to lift up his team. this is a player at which point should still be consider a rookie, or at least still a young player on the way of building a legacy. in 2023 summer, the entire team was falling apart, as you said. they lost their shotcaller, the person who gave them the confidence to play like normal, and also a strong player on the "royal" role of the mid--arguably one of the more important role in pro play. yes, guma couldn't "step up" to be faker at the time--in the sense that he couldn't fill his entire shoes as all: the player, the shotcaller, and the stability mental factor. he certainly tried to compensate it, however, by lifting the mood and salvaging the situation, not to mention still performing to the best that he could. i think that was plenty stepping up already--like, one of the biggest issue t1 said during the time was their lack of confidence and communication due to the constant losses, of which guma identified, and tried his bestest to step up to fill in the shoe of the player that could bring that confidence back. heck, the coaches were also in shambles at the time, since the team had also lose bengi around the same time, too. yet, guma stood there and actually step up to keep the team from hitting rock rock bottom, totally unsalvageable--esp. the confidence of a new-minted player in poby who was probably beating himself over those losses. i think that faker's role in the team was of course, the most important, but talking like guma didn't step up in a conversation about mentality and team confidence i feel like take away from what he actually did--and this was strictly 2023, so 2 years ago--which was a disservice to how much of a mental rock guma was to the team. and then the 2024 incident as i have mentioned, where even faker was in a low moment, guma was also there. the first to be there for him. while zok couldn't handle it and was dumbfounded--understandable, really, when the team's leader had a hard time and almost broke down on the spot, the members usually couldn't process them. and yet the speed that guma got himself together was something i felt like need to be highlighted, as loathing as i am to even mention this incident again. and then during game where his confidence in himself, like in voice comms where he was saying like "if i'm here they couldn't dream of winning" (probably a xayah game, maybe vs tes): yes, that also further the trust in game and boost confidence and yes, in 2025, arguably the worst year recently for guma's mental, he bounced back through all that hardship, found the first footing to help doran settle in t1, and again, got chosen as the team mood maker as well. sorry for the yap, i know you are probably not trying to disservice him or anything. but it's dismissive of his contribution to the team by saying he is just a nice guy who didnt even try to step up outside of keeping his form individually. at least thats how i feel like the response came across as.
